Ranger/Elem.
So after reviewing and looking and reviewing and looking. Final decision! I want to use my bow from a distancea and when things get to close to continue with my bow short range I will use the Fire Magic of the Elementalist!!
Attributes:
Expertise
Marksmenship
Fire Magic
Skills:
Quick Shot {Elite} - Shoot an arrow 3 times faster than normal. All your attack skills are disabled for 2 seconds.
Lightning Reflexes - For 5-10 seconds, you have a 75% chance to "evade" melee and arrow attacks, and attack 33% faster.
Penetrating Attack - If this attack hits, you strike for +3-15 damage and this attack has 20% armor penetration.
Pin Down - If Pin Down hits, your target is "Crippled" for 3-13 seconds.
Read the Wind - For 12 seconds, your arrows move faster than normal, and deal 3-9 extra damage.
Fire Storm - For 10 seconds, the area around target foe is bombarded with a rain of fire that strikes for 5-24 fire damage each second.
Fire ATtunement - For 36-55 seconds, you are attuned to fire. You gain 30% of the energy cost of the spell each time you use Fire Magic.
Immolate - Target foe is struck for 5-41 fire damage and is set on fire for 1-3 seconds.
Here's the plan. I attack from a distance with arrows. And when things start getting close combat I will use Fire storm to stop my enemy and use a preperation and then let them have it with the attacks.
I do have a question though:
If I use Eruption and one of my teamates is in that area, will it hurt my teamate as well as my foe?

Air Attunement - For 36-55 seconds, you are attuned to air. You gain 30% of the energy cost of the spell whenever you use Air Magic.
Enervating Charge - Target foe is struck for 5-41 lightning damage and suffers from weakness for 5-17 seconds. This spell has 25% armor penetration.
Lightning Orb - Lightning Orb flies towards target foe and strikes for 10-82 lightning damage if it hits. This spell has 25% armor penetration.
Ok this is different from previous post. I went with lightning because it has more quick skills and I can knock people down more and make them suffer weakness.
The plan is:
Again, attack from a distance and when things need my help or get close use Air Attuent before attack and then using Enervatin Charge to give oppent weakness and then use Pin Down. Then attack with Lightning Orb and Penetrating Attack. When playing PvE I will more then likly be using Power Shot rather than Penetrating.
So how does this look?

I guess it's a free world.. But if you can tweak yours a bit to match your charactor.. Does anyone else have a comment about my build?

My first suggestion would be drop the Attunement, its only of real good use when u go with Elementalist Primary...
Second you can experiment a bit with some Elem. attacks, but i think that u'll primarilly fall back on ur bow with conjure, mostly because elemental attack take too long to cast and cost WAAAY too much energy... remember you only have ~25 energy and you want to have small energy attacks so you can keep those attacks comming...
Example: in my build i have Conjure Lightning, Read the Wind and Hunter Shot... i'll cast Conjure (10 energy, 15 left) then i cast read the wind (2 energy (5 actually but expertise at 13 takes it to 2 i believe), 13 left... then i spam some barage shots also 2 energy... and anohter read the wind... and some hunter shots (or something else, like barrage)... i could do this almost indefinately... and that is devastating...
I'd also drop the Quick Shot, imo its really sucky... normally you would take 2 seconds to shoot... with quick shot, you do that in 1 second but you are just idle for the next... its only really handy when you need to get a "quick shot" in... so when you just need that tiny extra (foe with little health running), but you wont use it often... and ur wasting a valuable elite slot...
I'd take barrage... especially in PvE its awesome ... (they say havent played yet though)
The rest is just experimenting... as a R/E you wont get the Zealous bow string (too bad), but if you play ur cards right and use low energy attacks... you wont even need it...

PvE :
Ranger/Elm.
Marksmenship
Air Magic
Beast Mastery
Lightning Reflexes - For 5-10 seconds, you have a 75% chance to "evade" melee and arrow attacks, and attack 33% faster.
Penetrating Attack - If this attack hits, you strike for +3-15 damage and this attack has 20% armor penetration.
Pin Down - If Pin Down hits, your target is "Crippled" for 3-13 seconds.
Read the Wind - For 12 seconds, your arrows move faster than normal, and deal 3-9 extra damage.
Barrage {E} - All your Preparations are removed. Shoot arrows at up to 5 enemies near your target. These arrows strike for +1-13 damage if they hit.
Hunter's Shot - Bow Attack -If Hunter's Shot hits, you strike for +3-13 damage. If this attack hits a moving foe, that foe begins bleeding for 3-21 seconds.
Chain Lightning - Spell - Target foe and up to two other foes near your target are struck for 10-82 lightning damage. This spell has 25% armor penetration and causes exhaustion.
Lightning Orb - Spell - Lightning Orb flies towards target foe and strikes for 10-82 lightning damage if it hits. This spell has 25% armor penetration.
This is my PvE choose. Use my arrows and bow mainly then just use my Chain Lightning and Lighting Orb to bust up some major damange!! I would prolly pin them down first and then give it to them!
PvP :
Ranger/Elem. ( have 2ndary for back up )
Marksmenship
Beast Mastery
Wilderness Survival
Spike Trap {Elite} - Trap
When Spike Trap is triggered, all foes in the area take 10-56 piercing damage, are "Crippled" for 3-13 seconds, and are knocked down. Spike Trap ends after 90 seconds. While activating this skill, you are easily interrupted.
Pin Down - Bow Attack
If Pin Down hits, your target is "Crippled" for 3-13 seconds.
Read the Wind - Preparation
For 12 seconds, your arrows move faster than normal, and deal 3-9 extra damage.
Hunter's Shot - Bow Attack
If Hunter's Shot hits, you strike for +3-13 damage. If this attack hits a moving foe, that foe begins bleeding for 3-21 seconds.
Troll Unguent - Skill
For 10 seconds, you gain health regeneration +3-9.
Kindle Arrows - Preparation
For 12 seconds, your arrows deal an additional 3-20 Fire damage.
Ferocious Strike - Pet Attack
Your animal companion attempts a Ferocious Strike that deals +13-25 damage. If that attack hits, you gain adrenaline and 3-9 energy.
Feral Lunge - Pet Attack
Your animal companion attempts a Feral Lunge that deals +5-17 damage. If the attack strikes a foe who is attacking that foe suffers from Bleeding for 3-21 seconds.
This is my PvP in THEORY!! Now the idea is to send in my animals to distract.. And get into position and strike from behind or side. Or to distract them so I can get healed.
To set up for attack:
I will use Pin Down. Then send in the animal. While animal is attacking meelee a little while moving around my oppent. Once I get in a good position send animal and again. The use Read the Wind and start pounding with arrows. And maybe use a Pin Down again.
To get away and heal:
Just Pin Down the enemy, and send in animal and then use Troll Unguent.
Attacking two people at once!
Attack with arrows and then send animal end. Then turn and Pin Down different oppent and then turn animal to him and the continue with arrows on that and just continue this.
Now PvP is a theory I hope will work. PvE I feel should be good. I should be able to help out.
Any improvements you see please let me know. And if you are going to say for my PvP to get a secondary class.. don't..

First of all and most importantly, in neither of those builds i find Expertise... though you may not want to use the skills it offers... as a ranger you "NEED" expertise... why you ask ? ... well simply because the ranger has a rather small energy bar and without expertise it would be empty after 2 skills...
So put at least 10 points into expertize... you'll need it... believe me...
For the rest ur PvE looks good, its jsut a bit of trial and error... if you miss something in ur build you can always change it out in a city...
1 thing though, the lightning reflex gives you a 10 second extra attack speed... which is good ... BUT ... it takes 60 seconds to recharge... so if you are really taking it for the attack speed you could also go with Tigers Fury (under beast mastery) its way better.
If you want to keep Lightning Reflexes (it'll do in PvE i think), switch out the Beast Mastery in ur PvE build, as you havnet got any BM skills in ur list
Also think about conjure... thought you wont be able to use the Zealous String (which adds 1 energy per shot), you will put in quite some extra damage, and in combination with barrage or read the wind and hunters shot... BAM...
---
As for the PvP, well first of all like i said with PvE you NEEEEEED the Expertize, no doubt about that...
2nd of all... drop the pet... just drop it... you hear it all over... Rangers that use pets in PvP are useless... why ? ... first of all usually the pet is too weak to do anything, so most people ignore it...
second of all pets die easilly, and WHEN they die you get the death penalty (in case you dont know a death penalty is that when u get revived you have less max health and max energy).
And third, pets usually take up at least 3 slots (attack, heal/rez, charm), by the way i miss the last ... you cant take a pet with you unless you have the charm skill with you...
Conclusion pets usually suck in PvP, (though if you like them they can do pretty good in PvE).
So ur good for PvE... just make sure you put expertise in ...

Do I have to use Expertise Skills? Or do you just mean use the attribute to help me out?
And i will work on PvP!

You dont have to use the skills... jsut the attribute... it will lower the energy cost of all your ranger skill dramatically... making it easier for you...

PvP build Ranger
Attributes:
Expertise
Marksmenship
Wilderness Survival
Melandru's Arrows {Elite} - Preparation
For 18 seconds, whenever your arrows hit, they cause Bleeding for 3-21 seconds and do 8-24 more damage if they hit a target who is under an Enchantment.
Barbed Trap - Trap
When Barbed Trap is triggered, all foes in the area take 20-56 piercing damage, become "Crippled" and begin "Bleeding" for 3-21 seconds. Barbed Trap ends after 90 seconds. While activating this skill, you are easily interrupted.
Apply Poison - Preparation
For 12 seconds, enemies struck by your attacks become poisoned for 3-13 seconds.
Read the Wind - Preparation
For 12 seconds, your arrows move faster than normal, and deal 3-9 extra damage.
Determined Shot - Bow Attack
If Determined Shot hits, you strike for +3-15 damage. If Determined Shot fails to hit, all your attack skills are recharged
Penetrating Attack - Bow Attack
If this attack hits, you strike for +3-15 damage and this attack has 20% armor penetration.
Power Shot - Bow Attack
If Power Shot hits, you strike for +10-18 damage.
Pin Down - Bow Attack
If Pin Down hits, your target is "Crippled" for 3-13 seconds.
Use Barbed Trap and Pin down to keep enemy away and active a preperation. Then get ready and attack.. Or something like that. How is this build for PvP?
