My solo griff build
Just though Id share my solo grifin buil with you lot since i like to share and I think this may well help others.
Havent seen this particular setup before because i started from scratch first practising on stone elmentals then mino and finally desert griffs.
I use a superior vigor and sup absorption rune on my glads armour for energy. I use a sword with +30 health mod on and a +45 while enchanted shield.
Attributes
Healing 10
Strength 11
Tactics 9
ok heres my skill set
Defy Pain <E>
Endure Pain
Riposte
Deadly Riposte
Healing signet
Watch yourself
Healing breeze
Essence Bond
basically i use essence for energy management, when u have a group of griffs beatin on ya my energy barely leaves full perfect fo when i need to use breeze, deadly or endure.
Throughout the fight i use riposte and deadly riposte to do the damage. It takes about 10 mins for a full run and they usually all die at roughly the same time. With all equipment i have i have a steady hp of about 1,068 which helps alot.
If u have any suggestions on this build feel free. My ears are open.
Might post some screenies later if i can find out how

this is pretty much likes "dont feel no pain" build for farming hydras, but i think it would be better if you replaced healing sig and breeze with live vicarously.

My Dessert Griffon Farming Build
Here is another Dessert Griffon farming build you might want to consider:
Warrior/Monk
Level: 20
Axe Mastery: 8 (7+1)
Tactics: 11 (9+2)
Healing Prayers: 10
Smiting Prayers: 10
- Cyclone Axe (Axe Mastery)
Perform a spinning axe attack striking for +8 damage to all adjacent opponents.
Energy:5 Cast:0 Recharge:4
- Bonetti's Defense (Tactics)
For 9 seconds, you have a 75% chance to "block" incoming melee attacks and arrows. You gain 5 Energy for each successful melee attack blocked. Bonetti's Defense ends if you use a skill.
Adrenaline:8
- Symbol of Wrath (Smiting Prayers)
For 5 seconds, foes adjacent to the location in which the Spell was cast take 24 holy damage each second.
Energy:5 Cast:2 Recharge:30
- Balthazar's Aura (Smiting Prayers)
For 10 seconds, foes adjacent to target ally take 20 holy damage each second.
Energy:25 Cast:2 Recharge:25
- Healing Hands [Elite] (Healing Prayers)
For 10 seconds, Healing Hands heals target ally for 22 Health each time he suffers physical damage.
Energy:5 Cast:0.25 Recharge:25
- Live Vicariously (Healing Prayers)
While you maintain this Enchantment, whenever target ally hits a foe, you gain 10 Health.
Energy:5 Cast:2 Recharge:0
- Mending (Healing Prayers)
While you maintain this Enchantment, target ally gains +3 Health regeneration.
Energy:10 Cast:2 Recharge:0
- Balthazar's Spirit (Smiting Prayers)
While you maintain this Enchantment, target ally gains adrenaline and Energy after taking damage. (The amount of adrenaline gained increases depending on your rank in Smiting Prayers.)
Energy:10 Cast:2 Recharge:0
Instructions:
The moment you step out of Augury Rock, cast Balthazar's Spirit on yourself then wait for your energy bar to be full again. Once it is full, cast Mending. Run through the area until you are chased by a mob of Dessert Griffons, just make sure you don't have Rockshot Devourers on your tail, you'll get frustrated about their Distracting Shot skill. Once you have a mob following you and there is no Rockshot Devourer trailing, press C + spacebar (attack) to engage any of the Dessert Griffons following you. Immediately cast Live Vicariously. Make sure the Griffons have closed in on you then use Cyclone Attack to benefit both from healing and needed strikes of adrenaline. Once you have enough to cast Bonetti's Defense, cast Symbol of Wrath then Bonetti's Defense, make sure you press your hotkey for Bonetti's Defense after Symbol of Wrath has been cast and not while it is being cast. If you do, Bonetti's Defense will end as soon as Symbol of Wrath has been cast. When your energy bar is filled up again, cast Balthazar's Aura. This is basically where your form of attack would cycle through. If HP gets to 50% cast Healing Hands. If you actually get the hang of this build you won't need to cast Healing Hands, Cyclone Attack plus Live Vicariously would do the healing for you.
Equipment:
Armor set: Full 15k Gladiator's with 15k Ascalon Helm.
Weapon: Max damage axe which has a furious hilt and an axe mastery grip.
Shield: Grognar's Defender or the Collector's Carapace Shield that is found near Thirsty River which exchanges for 5 Bleached Shells

I use Balthazars Aura with no problems my build looks like this:
Healing 8
Smite 12
Strength 12 (dragon helm + minor strength)
Axe 8 (superior axe mastery)
Tactics 2 (minor tactics)
Cyclone axe
Watch yourself
Dolyak signet
Shield of Judgment {Elite}
Balthazars aura (or symbol of wrath)
Vigorous spirit
Healing breeze
Mending
Balthazars spirit
I use regular glads armor with dragon helm
runes are minor strength, minor tactics, superior absorbtion, superior vigor, superior axe mastery.
I use zealous axe with +29 fortitude and a shield with -2 recieved damage and +35 health while enchanted req strength
Right when you start cast balthazars spirit, when energy is full cast mending (take along a non zealous weapon just to get energy up). Go to the first rockshot and use dolyak and just let him hit you until you have full energy. Run to the griffons and get them in a group, if there are any rockshots you need to get away from them. When you have the griffons in a group use dolyak signet, vigrous spirit, cyclone axe, watch yourself, healing breeze, cyclone axe, watch yourself, shield of judgment, cyclone axe, wathc yourself, balthazars aura. After you have used balthazars aura just use cyclone axe and watch yourself when they are close to you. The kncokdown from shield of judgment allows aura to hit them a few more times. Just make sure you have watch yourself, vigorous spirit, healing breeze on at all times. You could use bonettis defence but then SoJ doesnt help nearly as much. With wath yourself and dolyak signet up you should not take more than 1-3 damage from normal attacks. Rockshots will ruin this build so be careful. I usually get all the griffons and about 7-9 minotars in 1 group and have them all killed around the time shield of judgment is recharged. I use the zealous mod on my axe to build up energy very quickly. 1 cyclone axe and I am at full energy. I have tried using tactics and smite at 12 and using gladiators defence but this is much more effective at killing. I also recommend using gladiators armor but you can also take symbol of wrath instead and get about the same amount of damage because they don't run out of it quick enough if you have shield of judgment up. I also have a very good w/e build but it has no healing in it so I will post that some other time.

They will run around like mad all the time. It's no fun. It's annoying and tedious.

Well, it seems that 50% of the time you will have to run around just to loose devourers or even worse go back to Augury. I know it's always fun when you get close to griffons and a couple of devourers spawn right next to them )
So I guess this build requires lots of running - from devourers and after griffons.

Look guys, why has no-one else realised that blessed aura + max smiting + Shield of Judgement kills ALL the griffins... An unlimited number of them...With no AoE scattering!
AND it kills the devourers with ease...

Im gonna take a guess, im probbaly way off. 55 necro with mending, prot spirit and breeze with spiteful spirit on the griffs? Maybe essence bond chucked in there?
Hmm, even if that isnt it, seems like it might work ^^

I really hate devourers. There should be a build specifically designed for farming them

hehe. i am new to the forum and i figured this would be the best thing for me to have my first post with. i have soloed since beta and griffs are a pretty fun one to do. this is my build i use.
Attribs
8 healing
2 smiting
10 str + 1 minor str rune
6 swords + 1 sup sword rune (OMG he said sword 4 soloing. trust me it works)
11 tacts + 1 tact helm (pref ascalon) + 1 minor tact rune.
What you need
1 sup vigor rune
1 sup sword rune
1 major absorb rune
1 minor tacts rune
1 minor str rune
1 tact helm
1 set of gladiator armor, either forge, 15k, or fow works.
1 sword (i got the collectors right outside dunes and modded it. works great)
1 tact/str req shield. Modifiers (while enchant) prefered. Malinons is great for this.
OK so you should have 8 healing, 2 smiting, 11 strength, 9 swords, and 13 tacts by now.
Skills
Reposte
Deadly Riposte
"Watch Yourself!"
Dolyak Signet
Gladiator's Defense
Healing Breeze
Balthazar's Spirit
Mending
ok the drill on this build is pretty much same as all others. you can take on about 30 griffs/minos at the same time. this build is ment to prevent dmg and deal dmg at the same time. i can do run in about 5 mins depending on the devourer spawns. Whenever the first 5 skills become available (except on devourers) cast them to deal/prevent dmg. just keep that breeze up when needed and you should be fine.
If you have any problems while your working on this build and need help contact me in game (izzak clawhammer) and ill be more than happy to help any way i can. if you want me to show you how to do it i will ignore you because you havent read through this whole forum or just dont know how and dont deserve to solo. sorry for sounding mean but thats life.
*notes: my sword from the collectors has a +7 shelter mod on it. this takes any dmg i take down to about 10 max. 0 from devourers, 0-6 with minos, and 0-10 from grifs. the first mod dont really matter. i just picked up the first one i got in a drop and slapped in on there (10/7 sunder ironically) but sunder and the mod that lenghlens cripple would be your best bet. dont forget to customize your weapon =)

well there seems to be alot of veriations on this axe warr build so i thought i'd share mine
healing: 10
smiting: 1 (just cuz i have an extra point)
axe m: 12 (11 + minor rune)
tactics: 12 (10 +minor rune and ascalon helm)
full nights armor with ascalon helm
skills:
cyclone axe
penatrating blow
executioneers strike
glads def
bonetti's
vigerous spirit
balthazar's spirit
live vicariously
heres what u do castbalthazar's spirit and let energy refill, then cast live vicariously. cast vigerous spirit b4 u aggro a group of griffs after the suround u use glads def and start using attack skills recast vigerous spirit when it starts to wear off and use bonetti's if ur health starts to fall too low
with 10 into healing i get 10 life each hit x2 for both enchants x#of griffs when i use cyclone axe = 100+ life
and with 12 in tactics glads does 29 dmg for heach hit blocked
this seems to work pretty well, i havent had any major problems with it
if u have any comments plz post

Duke the only things I could think of to improve your build if you like it would be to get different armor. The damage reduction doesn't stack so Gladiators or Plate would be better (Glads is best for griffon farming). Get a superior tactics or axe mastery rune. Whichever you choose to get the sup rune for get it up to at least 15 (I recommend the tactics and boost it up to 15). You would have to take axe down to 11 but that shouldn't matter.

Well for all you sword farmers out there... I developed this build. It's a slight change from another build I had. With the other build I was rarely below 500 health, but killing took a little longer. With both this and the other build I can take pretty much as many groups of minotaurs and griffons as I want and can get.
I'd try to stay away from Screamingclaw though- that griffon is a pain.

My current griffonfarmbuilt. It's possible to take out 3 groups of griffons/minotaurs at once. Just spam Orision of Healing and Healing Touch all the time. I only use symbol of wrath when there are many griffons around me. If you have 8 or more griffons around you, only 3 of them run away. And they only run after 3 seconds so you still do quite some damage and it doesn't drain energy like Balthazars Aura. A run is between 3 and 5 minutes depending on the rockshotspawns. I use the collectors smitingrod from Droknar and Malinons shield (i guess any shield with -2 while enchanted will work) My armor is a gladiator set with ascalon helmet.

If you want to use balthazars aura and want it to be effective you MUST use SoJ for the knockdown to get those few extra hits in. I have used that build but it still takes a little too long. Use a build with these 3 damage dealers, riposte, deadly riposte, gladiators defence. It cuts the time in half and you don't need to change anything with the build to solo other areas. I solo blessed griffons, trolls outside of droks, desert griffons, minotaurs, sand giants, grawl, sand drakes, jade scarabs, wurms, losaru, and hydras.
