W/Me Hydra Axe Farmer
STATS
the modifications as follows:
helm + minor rune in axe mastery
minor rune in others.
(I love having 12 axe mastery in a solo build)
SKILLS
In order: Dismember, desperation blow, executioners strike, cleave (the spammablility of it compared to eviscerate is why I have it. Could always substitute in cyclone axe for desperation blow and use eviscerate and penetrating blow. I just dont wan't to invest in another axe (because I like the look of mine...i do have the zealous axe hilt that would make cyclone axe basically cost 0 energy in groups of hydras)) healing signet, Watch Yourself!, Dolyak Signet, Elemental Resistance.
My Equipment
I like this build because of how fast you can kill a hydra. Desperation Blow is amazingly powerful, and at 12 tactics and 12 axe mastery, it does anywhere between 65-90 dmg for me (ive seen quite some range, probably due to criticals). Cleave is a great move thats really spammable, and dismember for the deep wound. Elemental resistance is great, especially since they still do 0 dmg to me with physical dmg when i have dolyak, watch yourself! and elemental resistance on. You only take 8-9 dmg from a fireball, 8-9 dmg from a meteor, and 10-12 dmg from inferno (in my experiences.) Really, you can take on a lot of hydras with healing signet. If you have a -2 while in a stance shield (you could just get from collectors like I did...looks better and is cheaper than Grognars Defender) then equip it. With this build, you wont have to worry about running out of energy.
Dont feel like farming hydras? You can farm ettins instead. Just sub in physical resistance for elemental resistance and away you go. Want to farm trolls? You can figure it out...(Victory is Mine +Epidemic + Gash + Sever Artery) with the same other skills (physical resistance) and same stat lineup, except of course switching the attributes from axe into sword and the runes.
Personally, I like farming with a W/Me more than a W/Mo in almost any situation (except wurms, and trolls is faster with a W/Mo anyway, so i dont know why i mentioned it =/).
I would appreciate some critique on the builds if you have any (and I know, who farms with Sundering? I personally just like that mod and dont want to use vampiric with a W/Me).
(lol... u can laugh at my rank and fame if you want too =P)

put in cyclone axe , there is no point not taking it , not only it does lovely area dmg but it also gives a nice adrenaline bonus. drop desperation blow for it, o yeah and use a zealous axe. but overall very nice .
ok come to think of it i think u need a whole change in your dmg skills,
this 4 should be a much better combo.
cyclone axe
eviscerate
executioners strike
penatrating blow.

Alright, I'm going to try this build now. But I want to know, do you think it would pay off more to do this run (Hydra's), or to continuously run Ettin's hoping for any Sup Monk rune or a Sup Vigor/Absorption? Probably the latter IF I did find one, but how often do the Hydra's drop good items? Or claws?
Edit:-
- Well, I tried it out with [Eviscerate, Cyclone Axe, Excutioner's Strike, Penetrating Blow, Healing Signet, Dolyak Signet, "Watch Yourself!", Elemental Resistance], and it worked okay. Not really meant for groups, though. Healing is not quick enough. If you are going to use this build, I suggest only trying to take on up to 4 Hydra at a time. 4 is pushing it, too.

I have taken on 10 Hydras with this build...4 is not pushing it at all.
I am vowing to get another axe though with a zealous haft (which i have, but havent used) to use cyclone axe, which I know gives quite the adraneline boost at no cost with a zealous haft.
However, I love using my chaos axe. Thanks for the critique.

sundering is the worse melee weapon mod, even worse then elemental damage mods, those actually have a purpose for some builds, with cyclone axe - zealous, furious, and vampiric are AMAZING

This is a really nice build but I think it owes a lot to the solo IDS farming build. This is nearly identical to that with the running skills removed.
It is the same basic premise with any mesmer build. You can do the same thing but use physical resistance for damn near anything in the desert except for Hydras. I could be mistaken but I think the riposte build works on hydras as well which makes a nice zealous collectors stance sword very attactive (which is what I use for farming)
Anyway, good post, good build. This is a great foundation for a lot of different solo builds. (which at least in my case can be credited to Racthoth , dont feel no pain and kvndoom)

Hydra's are so easy just about any build will do, the only primary skill one needs is doylaks signet.
