Wrong section, use the search feature (there are multiple threads on this topic), but I think it really boils down to how well the people in your group listen.

Basically just discuss ahead of time what your strategy will be. There are a couple of viable options:
1. Some groups, I have heard, have had great success defending the two staircases closest to the king. I have not personally been in such a group, but I believe if you are taking mostly henchmen, that is the way to go.
2. Our guild usually does the “floating” between the two outside gates. There is always someone up top, working the catapults and calling out what is approaching which gate.
Monks stay in the middle, but a primary gate assigned to each so there is no confusion. It works best if both monks have heal/prot hybrid build, so if there is a lot of splitting up, each gate group is more or less self-sufficient.
Traps--if ya got ‘em--work a treat. Have one or two rangers running back and forth between the gates setting as many traps as they can.
Make sure your warrior types do not run outside the gates to fight, but stay in healing range as well as the trapping pathway.

ok me and my guild have spent a lot of time trying to get this one cracked and i have found a way to make this work with GREAT ease. first of NEVER take henchmen as the ydo not have infused armour and will die at the first site of mursatt.
im not going to go into great detail of what skills to bring you figure them out for what ever you like.
you will need 2 monks 2 elemens 1 battry necro 2 warriors and 1 ranger, if you cant get a battry just take another ranger.
first off like a post above stated some ppl like to camp the stairs near the king but i have tried this a few times and have always failed
they way i do this is put your 2 eles on the top with the cats ALSO firing them off to kill anything before they get close, if they get in close they can nuke from ontop.
have 1 monk on each gate and your ranger on the west gate setting as many traps as possible. along with a warrior to help out.
the key to this way is communicat to each other... what every gate you are on let the others know if its clear or if you have incomming.
if you got incs yell and have the other warrior come over the help leaving the ele as your look out on top incase some come from the other side if they do get a warrior and monk to run back to hold them of as you mop up the ones on the other side.
remember the key is ALWAYS have the eles firing the cats non stop and good coms with each other.... this is by far the best way to do this and since i have figured it out i have not failed to do it once even tho i have lost 1 monk and 1 warrior we still managed to do it.
good luck

a MM with fiends and all the support spells is really funny especially if you have another necro throwing out Orders.
Me and my bro did some running for people "garunteed success" with that build. The start was slow going seeing as how we relied upon the team to kill the first few things, but once we started rolling it was all over but the crying. Had something like 40+ fiends at the end once. All with orders on. Was rather funny seeing people going just to see if a N/Mo and a Me/N could really take a group through it and win.
But anyways... back to the OP...
The best bet is to have two people operate the catapults and call out incoming targets, these people should be any of your ranged characters. one warrior at each gate is all you need, so you really don't need to load up on "Tanks." and just coordinate, if you get the monk boss, drag him up to the stairs and use the whole team to kill him there, if something comes on the other side assign a monk and a warrior or elementalist to kill those.

1. henchmen at THK are, in fact, infused.
2. orders do not effect minions, only winnowing does (favorable winds is untested).
3. seriously... i've done this mission 4 times, and never have i been able to complete it with a PUG. when i try henchies, i do it in 1-3 tries. it's not as hard as people make it out to be.
edit:
oh, and if you INSIST on taking a PUG... get a warrior to carry the torch (not light the beacons), so that enemies will attack him only. then all you need is a monk to heal him (healing seed) and you are set.
that warrior should have armor enhancing stances/enchants and the ability to survive bordum.
