Default Solo N/Me Tengu Farming

Why farm tengu?
They drop runes, large amounts of feathers and bone, dye, salvage items and, just for the holiday season, candy cane shards and Feathered Caromi Scalps (which can be traded for holiday items). There are also 1 – 2 Krytan chests in this area.

The Character:
Equipment –
Any armor w/ Blood Stained Boots
Vile Scar Pattern (+1 death magic)
Superior Death Magic rune (+3)
Minor Soul Reaping rune (+1)
Major Vigor rune (+health)
Minor Blood Magic rune (+1)

Stats –
Death Magic – 12 (16 total)
Blood Magic – 5 (6 total)
Soul Reaping – 9 (10 total)
Inspiration – 4

Skills –
Deathly Swarm - damage
Rotting Flesh – extra degen
Bone Fiends – major damage dealers
Bone Minions – shields, energy “batteries”, food
Verata’s Sacrifice – keeps pets alive
Energy Drain (elite) – extra energy
Taste of Death – eat a pet for health, handy because of Verata’s
Well of Blood – heals pets after a big fight

There is some versatility with the skills. Energy drain is useful to get energy back and rotting flesh is some extra damage since the energy comes very fast, but they can be switched for other skills as well. Well of Blood can be switched to literally anything, this build was made to solo tengu, but if you feel like bringing a healer henchie with you then switch Well of Blood for res signet.

Combat –
If there is a big group (3+) start by casting rotting flesh, if there is a small group (1-3) cast deathly swarm. Your Minions and Fiends will kill everything for you, as long as you cast Verata’s Sacrifice when available and cast Fiends and Minions whenever corpses become available. If you are running low on energy, hit energy drain on some foe and voila, more energy. After a big battle cast well of blood and stand in the middle with your pets so they can get some extra regen between Verata’s Sacrifice casting. If you find yourself taking a lot of damage, run into your bone fiends and hide behind them if you are still taking damage do NOT hesitate to use Taste of Death to get health, at level 16 you get up to 400 health from 1 pet. While your pets are getting to a reasonable level of health, pick up items and move along to the next group.

The run –

Start at Lions Arch and head left over the bridge. Kill the Imps using Deathly Swarm and Rotting Flesh, making sure to raise Fiends and Minions from the corpses. Continue right into the semi-narrow corridor and kill the rest of the Imps, making pets along the way. When you reach the res shrine, head to the left and into the 4 – 10 imps up on the hill. When all the imps are dead you should have a decent sized army. Imps sometime drop lumps of charcoal and you need to go that way anyways, so killing them is good.

Now starts the fun part, the tengu. Start by going straight along the way getting rid of tengu as you go, making a horseshoe-like path in the huge open area. Eventually you get to a collector and a tengu boss, kill them and head towards the opposite group of tengu, where there is another boss. When all the tengu are dead, go back to Lions Arch and start again.

Happy hunting and happy holidays!

Would you mind posting your net gains from 3 seperate runs? Like:

Run 1: X gold, Weapon A, Rune A, n1 Feathers, n2 Bone
Run 2: X gold, Weapon B, Runes B and C

..and so on? I see a lot of solo builds for different enemies and areas, and vague promises of "This is a really great run!" but the ones I've tried are.. lackluster. ;p I've been looking for a -good- N/Me farm build, so I'm just wondering how much you think it's worth.

You should try subbing in Offering of Blood in place of Energy drain, you can place the rest of your points in Blood to boost up Well of Blood and Offering of Blood.

1-3 major runes, usually 1 superior rune, 6-16 scalps, 1-2 candy cane shards, lots of salvage stuff (if thats what you like)

if you want more runes, you can run with your army straight north and go into the ettins, a small army can handle ettins effectively

Because not everyone wants to /Mo? Besides which, doing a 55hp monk setup.. costs money, and if you're looking to start farming, there's a good chance you don't have any. Bit of a catch-22 there. =p

Yea forgot what not having money is like sorry.... cost you a big 3k around for the runes and around 2k for -50hp offhand if you post on the trade forums, so takes about 30 minutes to make the money. also.... You don't have to choose ONE build.... I use a N/Mo for Invinci Build, N/Me for Echo SS/SV build, N/W for MeleeMancer and a few others, once you have done the six profession quest you can switch from secondary to secondary by a quick simple visit to the desert.... Not going to Make NEARLY as much money farming there as you will elsewhere like the desert, UW, FoW.... and if ur not there then I'de suggest doing missions until you are, farming there is a WASTE of time.... I'de rather get ECTOS than Major runes!!!!!!!!!

I think runes have become outdated now really, everyone can unlock them via pvp faster since the boost in faction gain.

not many tengu like the riverside runs; and getting a sup vigor or abs isnt as well as getting a few ectoplasm...
