Well lets see, i like swords and axes over hammer because you can have an off-hand weapon.
lets compare the two shall we.
Axe
Pros- Higher Max Damage
- One-Handed (Wear Off-Hand Item)
- Lots of Skills from Pre-Searing Ascalon
- Fast Attack Speed
Cons
- Min & Max Damage BIG Difference (6-28)
- Slower than Swords
Swords
Pros
- Fast Attack Speed
- High Min Damage
- Small Difference Between Min & Max Damage
- One Handed (Wear Off-Hand Item)
- A Bunch of Good Skills (i.e. Sever Artery, Gash)
Cons
I dont know, i think thats about it. Personally i favor swords over axes right now. Thats just me, but really its your choice and how you want to play your character

I only suggest taking a hammer if you're running a knockdown warrior.
Not sure, but I believe sword and axe have the same attack rate Baked Monkey

Yea, I'm pretty sure swords and axes attack at the same rate.

When i observe PvP battles, nearly all the Warriors have axes (bout 90%)!
I was woundering why, if anyone else has anything to add?

Axes have the Eviscerate-Executioner chain, which deals more damage than anything the sword can put out. They also deal more average damage than swords or hammers. Hammers are meant to disrupt through knockdown while dealing respectable damage. Swords, on the other hand, have no real advantages over the other two.
Off-topic: Who started the "swords are faster" rumor?. It's been disproven many times but still seems to pop up again and again.

Axes:
Pros:
Higher max damage, and larger criticals.
Better attack elites than swords
Spike skills don't kill all adrenaline
Can apply deep wound dirrectly, and can use it more effectivly in a spike. (Evicerate, Dismember)
Cons:
Lower average damage
Swords:
Pro:
Higher average damage
Can apply cripple dirrectly (via hamstring)
Cons:
Cannot apply Deep Wound dirrectly, sever/gash dosen't work very well for spiking
No good attack elite. Hundred blades really kinda sucks.
Swords and Axes have the same attack speed.
Axes in general are more damaging, since you get a critical whenver you hit a moving player in the back. Exe->Evicerate->Axe Rake is signifigantly more damaging than Sever->Hamstring->Gash, and compairable to Galrath->Final.

Use an axe build for W/R and IWAY. If you play it right, you get REALLY fast attack speed (+66%) which in turn charges your adrenaline really quickly. If you play it right, you can end PvP matches almost solo.

But, the sad thing about IWAY, is that you need teammates dead first :P

sword has better skills for taking down other warroirs i.e.riposte and deadly riposte. its adren skills are far better spaced out than axe so u can easily make combos. but it cant really do high dmg as an axe can
axe is great for just generally doing high damage and mostly does far more damage than sword but its adrenalin skills are all rather expensive bar cleave which is super cheap for what it does.
hammer is great for spell casters with its intensive knock down but the adren skills are all very costly either needing 10 adren or u loose all of your adren but it is wonderfull nonetheless. hammer is the best damage dealer against spell casters.

I'm really confused as to what this build is all about. Can someone post the skills comprising an IWAY build? I know that IWAY means "I Will Avenge You". I'm just curious as to exactly what it is and is it only W/R that can use this build? Hmm... probably they just let their pets die... sad...

Ignoring BakedMonkey as most of it's irrelevant and/or wrong:

I don't know why a serious PvPer would be running Axe Rake, Sever Artery, Hamstring, and/or Gash. Someone might die laughing, but a decent Monk would remove the conditions.
Axes are standard because Eviscerate->Executioner's or some form of that is a pretty good spike combo and a main reason why Axe > Sword. However, should you need your Elite slot for something else, Galrath/Final does well too. (The sad thing is that this has been posted many times and people still don't get it because they can't part with their shiny swords.)
Hammers are useful because of knocklock - you can knock down a caster repeatedly while inflicting damage.

(Exclude the Sell forums from searches when looking up weapons.)
I'd normally just tell you to look in the other thread, but looking in that other thread just shows way too much... junk and doesn't completely focus on PvP. Maybe you'll find an earlier post there that helps.
And no, nobody better post anything about IWAY builds because it has nothing to do with weapons. IWAY = "I Will Avenge You!", the shout.
Search: Key Word(s): IWAY ; Forum: Warrior and child forums
http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...highlight=IWAY

Those should be good enough for decent builds/discussion.

Go what you like most.
My personal opinion is go with axe for PvP and sword for PvP.
Hammer?
Besides knockdown and high max damage, I see no reason
