I've been looking at posts on here for a while, using suggestions (and the search bar...wink wink) to help create a good, stable build for playing around in UW solo or with a partner spamming SS. This however is my first thread, so be gentle on me.
Background on where I am at in UW:
Yes yes, I'm still a noob 55 monk. I have only gotten to the terrorwebs solo once, and in a duo group we'll usually get to that same place every time. So, I'm addressing the issues with aatxes and such. Beyond that, I haven't experienced for myself yet. If only America would win enough for me to practice more...
OK, before I tell you guru's what I need help on ironing out, here what I'm currently using:
Mo/Me
Healing: 9 (6+3)
Smiting: 15 (11+3+1)
Protection: 9 (6+3)
Inspiration: 11
and the rest thrown into..
Divine: 5 (2+3)
I started out as a Mo/W using Bonetties to block interupts, but it seemed to lack the 100% stability of Mantra of Resolve. As I have been reading, it seems that mending + watchful spirit isnt enough to stay alive (which I have seen for myself in UW and other areas), so I added healing breeze for times when I need a little more. If I didn't need breeze, I would have rather used Mantra of Concentration instead of MoR. Along with that, I wouldn't have to sacrafice points from Smiting + Protection to get MoR down to a mere 3 energy lost.
If you haven't guess by this point, I am having problems with energy when I'm only fighting one enemy. It gets REALLY sketchy, which usually means I forget about using MoR and just take a chance with SoJ being interupted. I find myself not being able to cast SoJ when it's ready due to the amount of energy available. I tried cutting Watchful Spirit out of my build, but that just makes things worse since I'm then relying on breeze all the time; using even more energy.
Can anyone make suggestions on what to add/get rid of. I'm not asking for people to just give me a build, rather wanting advice on how to improve what I already have.
Thanks, Maso

watchful spirit is seriously a piece of crap for a 55 build. throw that out!! something such as vigorous spirit might be better suited for u. perhaps even bring blessed signet instead of watchful. higher divine favor also helps out since ull get healed alot everytime u use prot spirit.
Be Mo/W use bonetti's 7 sec of +5 enrgy and you have 75% to dodge attacks and you'll have more divine that way so you can heal yourself about 45 points each time you cast a spell. It works for me...

If you want to stay Mo/Me for MoR, then you could try something like Energy Tap or Leech Signet instead of Watchful Spirit. It's a little unconventional, but it could work.
Dude not relying on healing breeze in the UW is a big mistake. The back bone of a 55 monk is protective spirit and healing breeze. As far and energy i really never have a problem with that.
My skills i use with my Mo/Me when dueling with an N/Me: Mending / Healing Breeze / Essence Bond / Balthazar's Spirit / Protective Spirit / Sympathetic Visage / Montra of Concentration / Spell Breaker {Elite}.
Now this is not ment for soloing but i have great success with this and i hardly ever need energy.
Soloing and Dualing are 2 different concepts entierly.. (per the comment above)
I would suggest changing from Mesmer to Necro as your secondary and use SS and NOT SoJ... basicly SOJ sux for solo build..
I would also replace Watchfull Spirit with essence bond which will give you more energy, this combo with balth spirit should help with the energy issues..
Since you are now a necro you can get rid of Mantra and you will need to back shadow of fear for the smites..
You might get interruped here and there, but the interrupts aren't that much of a problem once you run this a few times... SS recharges A LOT quicker then SoJ..
Wow! I come back to a bunch of great comments. Awsome(this is why gwguru is so great )!

Yeah I tried once this morning to throw WS out, keeping everything the same as what I already had. Not pretty when just one aatxe was left. I was just breaking even on energy, and in some cases going into the red (not literally but you know what I mean). Perhaps Vigorous Spirit like you said would be more effective in this case; I know it is on my W/Mo.

Yeah I could see how you could get into trouble without it. Last time I went out, I was able to not use it at all when I had SoJ active(against 3-4 aatxe's). After it wore off I had to keep it casted. So far I haven't died once due to lack of healing breeze. It'll definitely stay on my skill bar BTW.

LOL, I never thought about having different setups for going solo vs. duo, but it makes sense now that you bring it up. I guess I should mention that I have been mostly going solo into UW. Yeah, I'll try out Mo/N, but it scares me knowing I won't have a security blanket such as bonetties or MoR. I could see Shadow of Fear helping out with big groups, and since it's 10 energy just like MoR, I won't know the difference on my energy bar.
Thanks guys, this already helped out a bunch. I'll see what I can do with this once America wins again in HoH.
What wand is used against the Nitemares? Anything with "light" damage?
I have been using an axe with a +17% longer enchantment mod on it. I don't usually worry about those nightmares, since if everything goes right, they won't pop up until after clearing the mob of aatxe's on top of their area.
I use a MO/Me for soloing the UW. It is much safer for me than the Mo/N builds. I have tried and tried about 20k worth of trying with the MO/N and the interrupts are a problem. If someone can tell me how to run that build without getting interrupted that would be awesome. The orignal question was what to try to use to solo the UW so here is my build
Mending
Essence
Bath Spirit
Prot Spirit
Healing Breeze
SOJ
Arcane Echo
Mantra of Resolve
When I get into UW i swap out my smiting cap for a healing cap and cast mending to get it to 4 pips. Then swap back to get smiting to 16. I am not sure what my settings for attributes are at but just go by getting your smiting to 16 with a +4 from runes and smiting cap. And then get your healing to 13 with runes and Healing cap. The points in prot until its either 17 or 18 seconds. Then 6 or 7 in inspiration and the rest in divine favor. Divine favor helps a ton when you have lots of attaxes on you. The heals from divine can save you a lot of times.
This is where I come in. I have a solution to your "interrupt" problem. I have done UW countless times back when I had my 55 Necro (long story short, he's gone), and interrupts used to be a large issue with me. I never could get SS out, and it got frustrating .
So, by compliments of Godlike Satan, the interrupts are no longer that much of a threat anymore. Here's what you do:
1) Make sure that nightmare is dead before you do anything (if there is one)
2) When you are suffering from bleeding, cast Healing breeze... I know, obvious, but you never know who's out there
3) Cast Guardian (I will explain later)
4) If it is interrupted, which is very likely, cast protective spirit again (to make sure it doesn't run out) then cast mending again. It will most likely get interupted since it is a long cast.
5) Now, they have used up their Savage Slash's, so cast SS and then watch as they attack themselves to death (obviously repeat as necesary )
About that Guardian... I promised I would explain it, so here it is. I find that when I cast Guardian, the Aatxes try to interrupt it. If I'm lucky, they both will, but if not, at least one would. Once you see that lovely -4 [SAVAGE SLASH] on your screen, then you know they tried to interrupt it, or did. So, that is my story on Guardian.
Hope this helps you with your problem of being interrupted.
