Bubonic Summoner
Ok heres a build i thought would be interesting to play for PvE (SF in particuler). Not sure if such a build is around yet so let me.
The Bubonic Summoner or Bub Summoner for short (and yes i am aware of what that sounds like )
Here it goes:
Attributes
Deathmagic: 16 (12 + 3 sup rune + 1 scar)
Soulreaping: 14 (12 + 2) {Might lower it, so open for suggestions}
Blood: 3 ( + 1 base rune)
Skills
MM skills:
Summon Bone Horror
Summon Bone Fiend
Blood of the Master
Verata's Sacrafice
(nothing new here im sure)
That little extra fun:
Signet of Agony (Blood)
Plague Touch (Blood)
Virulence {Elite} (Death Magic)
Epidemic (Mes: No Attribute)
The way this build works is as follows:
You have your standard MM skill line with lvl 18 minions and BoM and VS to keep the minions up for a long looooong time. Summon mostly fiends. Horrors when you are either low on energy (which you shouldnt really be with 14 soul-reaping but it does happen on occasion) or when fiend is recharging and you want to steal that corpse before any gnashers etc. can make a nasty something out of it themselves. Spinal Shivers for Monk bosses and other casters. This will interrupt most spells if not all. But since the duration is short with only 3-4 points in curses you need to know how to time it (should come easy with practice). Make sure you only pack Spinal if there is NO SS necro around (since its a staple on any Echo SS necro whos worth his/her salt).
Now to the fun bit:
Hit your "victim" with Signet of Agony and Plague Touch to make him bleed. Since Bleed is a condition, hit him with Virulence. That will cause your victim to suffer from Poison, Desease and Weakness as well (each 15 seconds with max Death-magic)
Then hit him with Epidemic to lay the smackdown on all the foes around your victim as well.
Totaled up this comes to:
-10HP degen (Poison - 4, Desease -3, -3 Bleeding...double check me on those numbers though)
33% Dmg reduction since foes deal only 66% dmg with weakness
Energy Cost Total: 25 (15-Epidemic, 5-Virulence, 5-Plague Touch)
Skill Recharge Total: Virulence-10 Seconds (15 second duration on conditions), Signet of Agony-15 Seconds, Epidemic-15 Seconds
Cast Time: SoM-3/4 Seconds, Virulence-1 Second, Epidemic-2 Seconds (looks like a nice progression IMO)
So all in all, for 25 Energy you get AoE Bleed + Poison + Desease + Weakness for a moderate 10% hp sacrafice.
The 25 energy can be hefty fine though unless you have plenty of Mobs around, like in SF (I had SF farm in mind when I made this)
My apologies if this post is a bit messy. It is my first ever on the subject of GW.
Cheers
Janelle
Side Note: Some people might say "and how do you pack Rend then". Short answer is you cant. Not unless you sacrifice that last additional skill. I do love Rend but I also noticed that, when timed right, SV will be a complete shut-down to any caster unlucky enough to get hit with it. And since cold is the standard dmg on death-magic wands you wont even have to go and spend those plats on something like Bortak's Claw (Im sure all the echo-SS without Villnars are getting jealouse right now )

Well, you'll never get anyone to take a MM build into the Furnace. Particularly to farm Orozar.*
Never could figure out how to use Epidemic and Virulence, but I was trying it in PvP. Now, I see they have their home in PvE at least. Nice build as far as I can tell, TY.
*:P
PS. Haven't done the math (too lazy to click on the skills page), but would Well of Suffering work here? Maybe in lieu of a pet skill? I think WoS is underrated.

Hmm..WoS in this case would be of marginal use for 2 reasons.
1: You lose a corpse for a potential Fiend
2: You only gain an additional -3 Degen since the cap is -10. Now you could argue that this alone is worth it, but I'd rather have that one extra lvl 18 fiend around .
As for PvP i cant really see how this particular build would be very efficient. People tend to spread out a bit to avoid AoE effects like this (though mostly in fear of eles), which would eliminate the usefulness of Epidemic (though those conditions on a warrior would just be pure evil and save the monk(s) many-times over).
Then again, this tactic of conditions could easily backfire in PvP. For one you wont get any decent number of summons if the other monks do their job. Secondly, if one of the monks has martyr, its bye-bye conditions, and a possilbe ball of conditions flying back at your team if his secondary is Necro (think fi-boon healer with Plague Touch/Sending). So this would be dangerous to use as well.
Thx for the suggestion though I'll test and see if those -3 have more impact than I originally thought (and yes WoS is underrated, like alot of other skills out there).
Thx for the suggestion...keep 'em coming please.

How about the anti-enchant well (Well of Profane?)? Will smush Mark of Protection without using Spinal Shivers, which is a staple of SF farming.
Lol, I just want to see someone with max Death Magic use these damn wells dammit.

lol. Well with SV going at full throttle there shouldnt be any enchants on the bosses. I think people dont use Wells because you cant influence where they are spawned really. What if the corpse you create your Well on is out-of-range of your target. You just wasted energy AND a corpse in that case. A double-impairement of your necro.
Personally I use wells only in some other areas like Dragon Lair when I play support for my fellow guilders. Cant summon much there anyway so the Wells really gain some appeal in those.

Sorry to burst your bubble but you've got double elites running, SoM [E] and Virulence [E]. I would save a corpse for a fiend or just bomb it.

Ok updated. Still doable but you lose that 1 additional slot. Upside is you now have -10 degen through added bleeding
