I'm not sure what 2ndary prof to choose for my Ele! I also don't know what primary elemental skill to focus on! Here's what I can say so far:

- I've never specialized in ele's before so forgive my noobness

- I prefer pve over pvp (since i will be unlocking skills anyway that I can use in pvp should I change my mind)
- I want to use whatever element and 2ndary prof that will have me being a speedy dmg dealer (is that a spiker?) without long recovery times (if possible)
- I don't want to die easily, however if that's the catch that comes with being a spiker, then I don't mind
- My whole idea is to create an ele that attacks and kills so fast that she doesn't have to worry about defending herself - is that possible?
- I have also never played with a necro, so if you can suggest some good ele/necro builds then plz do (as this would allow me to unlock 2 prof skills with one char for possible pvp in the future)
- I want the ele to be the primary, not secondary prof
- Money is not an issue, so if a build requires certain weapons/armor upgrades that are expensive, that's fine

And that's about it for now. If anyone here is an expert, has some good insight, or even knows some good links, then plz drop me some info. Thnx in advance, i'm dying to get to know the elementalist

Well, if you want to do speedy damage, I think Fire or Air with Mesmer secondary will do alright for you. Of course, I specialize in Earth, and I don't have any qualms about it...depends on your playing style.

Use the Mez part to gain back your energy and Echo your spells.

I might be able to help more if you told me what classes you have played.

Well I specialize in the warrior/monk - and I know everything about both classes as I also have a monk/warrior. I'm a quick learner and do plenty research before investing in a new character. I also have a complete datebase of skills, so if you refer to one I can look it up fast. But in regards to your favorite style - the earth ele - is that a speedy dmg dealer? The thing is, what I really want is an Ele that CAN play well in groups, but that doesn't need to rely completely on others. I like what you said about the mez, and echo - so i'd be willing to try that if you still think that's my best bet. Could you suggest some skills for whatever element you think I should invest in? an ele spike is an ele that can do a huge amount of dmg vry quickly in one big hit (these are usually air or earth eles)
heres a list of wot each type of ele can do (may not be complete)

Air - all dmg spells with exception of windborne speed. Most air skills have 25% armour penetration so in bulk thet can be the most dmging. Most air eles are spikers because of this ad usually take mesmer as secondary prof for elite skill echo so they can echo lightning orb and do a constant stream of dmg. if u do this take channeling (mesmer skill) and air attunment to keep ur energy up.
fire- has the most AOE spell of the eles with fire ball meteor etc. t also has some burning skill to give ur foes health degen for a little bit (if u use mark of rodgot u can cause burning whenever that foe is hit with fire dmg). Again mesmer secondary is good for this as most fire eles have become nukers (high dmg in an area) with meteor shower. again they combine this with echo. however if u have mantra of resolve ((memser skill) u cannot be interupted while casting, as long as u have mana (energy). also glyph of renwal (elite ele skill) is good for this as it means u can cast a meteor shower once ever 15 secs (meteor hower has a 60 sec recharge time so technically u can fire of about 3 in that time due to the 5 second cast). if u become a e/r with the glyph tho and use serpents quickness the glyph will charge in 10 secs not 15 so u can do more showers. watch out as meteor and meteor shower cause exhaustion (see below)
eart - these are my favorites as they have prot spell to keep u and ur team alive and can also do high dmg. With an earth ele u have to watch out for exhaustion caused by ob flame (on max earth ot does 118 dmg regardless of armour). This spell cost 5 mana to cast has a quick recharge but causes 10 points of mana to be taken of ur total for a while (it does charge back). they also have the earth quake after shock combo. u knock down ur foes with earth quake and while there down and ur next to them u do after shock for a huge spike of dmg. however earth quake does cause exhaustion as well.
water- doesn’t do much dmg by its self but it has some usefull spells that cause hexes. Most of which are slow down hexes. A good skill for a water ele is maelstrom which interupts any casters in its aoe making thm move from wards or stops thm casting for a bit. another good skill is called rust which lengthens the casting times of signets. this is good as it can help to stop resing or healing from healing sigs. however water doesnt have by itself high dmg like the other 3 can.

as for secondary profs here a brief list of wot they can do

warrior- defence skills such as deflect arrows bonettis defence healing sig. Good to combo as a hammer ele with the aoe hammer skill that knocks all surrounding foes down thn follow with after shock for dmg spike
monk- good for healing urself and ressing dead allies
mesmer- good for skills that get u ur mana back and also using for spiking with echo etc
necro - good for stealing health and causing chaos dmg to foes when comboed with earth. Or simply use necro skills such as animat bone minions and have ur energy storage high so u can create a lot
ranger- use a bow so u can do constant dmg. This is a good thing to combo with like the mesmer.

Well, an elementalist spike is usually of Obsidian Flame, or a combination of Air skills. Well, it sounds like you're doing PvE, so you don't need to worry about that.

If you go E/Mo, you could do Invincimonk farming

Well, I suggest you go E/Me, since that's the class I know best and play best. XD

If you like going up front, or can't resist it even though you know you're supposed to be at the back, you might want to me a E/W or E/R Earth elementalist. (I was E/Me, but that's just me.) Earth defensive spells and skills can make the Elementalist have more armor than any warrior could imagine having. DON'T do weapons, though. Crystal Wave ignores armor, and Earthquake + Aftershock is good damage. Obsidian Flame is a favorite, while you could put in a few Wards. The defensive spells were Armor of Earth, Kinetic Armor (only put this with Stone Daggers since you can renew it now whenever you want), and Obsidian Flesh (It's an elite, so you don't need to know about it yet). Armor of Earth already puts your Ele into the armor stats of a Warrior. :P

Although Fire is a good way to go too, but no defensive spells >.< Has the most massive damage. Meteor Shower is 0wn4g3.

Water is defensive in nature, and would need you to specialize in some sort of support role. I guess you aren't accustomed to support roles, so...

Air is more direct, 1 person damage.
