Modifying my tanker
"pve tombs" is making me change a bit.
Old build I have had success with 3 times but i just feel could be better.
I think pure tanking is... boring and inefficent. I believe we should always be doing decent damage while still doing our tank job.
2 things I am uncertain about 1: is crystal wave accepted in PvE (it removes conditions) 2: is no healing sig accepted in PvE ( i have noticed i rarely use it, cause if i need it, it means my monks are dead and I have failed at doing my job and should use rez sig asap
)
Please vote which is best or make suggestions.
Old build: W/x - 14 tactic rest in sword and strength - glads, shield stance, dolyak, heal sig, rez sig, watch yourself, galrath, savage slash or seeking blade.
Proposal 1: 12 in earth rest in sword and strength w/e - obsidian flesh, ward against melee, galrath, final thrust, endure pain, rez sig, dolyak, i will survive
Proposal 2: w/e - 12 in earth rest in axe and strength - obsidian flesh, bonetti, cyclone axe, endure pain, crystal wave, after shock, rez sig, dolyak

While he wants damage, he also would like not to be killed. This isn't PvP that he is talking about, but rather the PvE version of tombs. Frenzy will kill you in the blink of an eye in almost any higher-level PvE area.
W/Me Pure war build, Mesmer secondary has no penalties.
10-12 Tactics.
12-14 Axe Mastery. (Not sure if I would use a sup in tombs, if I did, I'd say 13-16 Axe)
Rest into Strength. Personaly, I'd leave it rather low, since points to your weapon mastery boost damage more than points into strength.
Cyclone Axe
Executioner's Strike
Dismember
Distracting Blow/Chop
Watch Yourself!
Glad's Defense
Healing Sig
Res Sig
I honestly haven't tried it out in Tombs, but I've used the build with my warrior before, and it works rather nicely. Deep Wound is brutal, it is not to be underestimated. Dealing damage equal to 20% of max hp, in one blow, especialy vs the high hp monsters in tombs, is just great. The Dream Riders and Shades proabably can't bleed, but everything can be hit by deep wound via Dismember or Evicerate. That is why I like axes more than swords.

Try adding Riposte and Deadly Riposte into your build, it helps deal damage back to those Grasp of Insanities.

Keep in mind how little energy you'll have after Fear Me! spam, and Energy Surge. Lots of ele skills are not typicaly a good idea.
Ok, so you'll block many of the surges, but not the Fear Me! With such low energy, you'll get one AS off, and be done. Oh, and, you'd proabably want to avoid Crystal Wave.
I still hold that Mesmer is the ideal secondary for a warrior. If you want to use swords....hmmmm maybe this would work...
Riposte
Deadly Riposte
Gash
Sever? Something else?
WY!
Glad's
Heal Sig? Bonetti's?

#1 - crystal wave removes conditions from your enemies, not from yourself.
#2 - no healing sig is okay, in my opinion. it shows that you trust your monks. plus, -40 armor sucks when you're in the middle of tanking things. only take healing sig if you have some way of countering the loss of armor.
the only real issue with your builds is how you plan on doing damage or building adrenaline while blinded. if you can overcome that obstacle, any of them should be fine. "i will survive!" is a good addition, but i think that a glads def/riposte build would be more effective than relying on your weapon.
