Default Illisionary weapon build.

Searched the forums and cant find anything to answer my question.

i'm currently running a E/Me, the question is if i armed up with a sword or axe for some fast melee attacking combined with Illusionary Weaponry {Elite} would the following build be viable for dmg output/energy cost?

Earth magic:16
Energy storage: 14
Illusionary magic: Remaining points

- Illusionary Weaponry {E}
- Earthquake
- Aftershock
- Crystal Wave
- Earth Attunement
- Kinetic Armor OR Armor of Earth
- Magnetic Aura
- Glyph of Lesser Energy

I guess i'm thinking casting kinetic armour/Armour of Earth to get in close. Engage in melee with IW. Then just pump out Earthquake, Aftershock and Crystal Wave in order. It working on the prinicple of having a healer to back up and then just nuken all the melee fighters as fast as possible before running out of energy.

Its just a thought havent tried it or seen any build like it but suggestions good and bad welcome...

A few points to ponder...

- A superior and a major rune is a lot of lost health. Illusion would only get 3 points. This is assuming 12+4 / 12+2 / 3 spread.

- Kinetic Armor requires you to spam spells to keep it up and I don't see any spammable spells.

- If you are attacking with IW, when are you casting the spells?

- IW works best with an increased attack skill, like Flurry.

I'd say forget about IW and focus on the area attack spells, or replace IW with Daggers to have a spell to cast to keep Kinetic armor going.

that all makes sence i guess. now i thin about it dagger would be good. the 3 main attacks them selves 'should' keep kenetic up 8 sec each but daggers would be good for interupters that may be lurking around.

Either that or save IW till the end to use while energy comes back for another wave of dmg.

to be honest i was going on the confustion side of e/me - with a sword/axe?WTF what dmg will that do in melee??

hmm.. firstly aftershock is not that effective without a knockdown.

Secondly, when people see IW dmg popping out of their screen the first thing they'll do is run, so unless u have snares or something that allows u to catch them u'll find that u'll be running around more than hitting them.

Thirdly the true power of IW comes in hitting as quickly as possible, because then u can rake up tremendous amt of damage..

That's all i can think off.. but good job in trying to think out of the box.. dun give up!

ok afterhock should be ok aslong as it's used in order after Earthquake which causes knockdown.

the next question is what to replase IW with Channeling would be and obvious choce as you should be right in the middle of it so good energy regen. OR Mantra of Resolve to stop the problem of interupts in the chain of dmg.

But i'm trying to think more outside the box here so i'm not sure but i'm not sure so i was playing with the idea of using Epidemic. My tanking char is ofter right in there geting bombarded with hex's and bleeding, blinds ect so what about topping it off and giving all those people attacking me a little presse ontop of the dmg i'm handing out? Never used epidemic so would this be a viable idea? and even better its a not specific skills so i can put all my stats into earth and energy storage.

Also with air attunement on i'm using 50 energy in quick sucession with the three big dmg spells so 30% back and i've got another 15 energy to play with ATLEAST. But since i'm not using an elite i can throw in Elemental Attunement {Elite} instead and get 25 energy back.

- Earthquake
- Aftershock
- Crystal Wave
- Epidemic/Channeling/Mantra of Resolve
- Elemental Attunement {E}
- Kinetic Armor OR Armor of Earth
- Magnetic Aura
- Glyph of Lesser Energy

Tested at lvl 16 and i can farm elona reach (my test zone). dont have after shock and as a result sometimes take some dmg so i brough aura of rest just to cover that. +79 armour and 19 sec of 75% melee dodging.

also went with stone daggers as their was negative effects and energy managment seemed ok even with Earth attunement.

i also found if energy did start getting low i just cast stone daggers every 6-7 secs just to keep kenitc up till i had enough energy to cast quake and wave

Note that even a low powered Lava Font will usually drive away melee fighters so could be worth equipping. It also charges quickly so is ready when it wears off.

There will be times when your enchantments get shattered so you need something when you're in playing with the big boys.

IW has some merit as something to do while you're low on energy.

The problem is that unless you're casting something once in a while to keep Kinetic Armor up, you're fairly squishy.

I tried it for a bit. Never worked something out with it that was great.

Probably wouldn't try it again without also using Sympathetic Visage.
