Default What is "nearby"?

When skills (ie, Fevered Dreams) say "nearby," what do they mean in real terms? Is the range, say, the size of a well? a ward?

Different skills have different radiuses. Should test it out.

good question.
I suggest you use Heal Area a few times to get an idea.
The animation of Heal Area gives an idea of the range I think....

240 inches... radius? That's 20 feet... and I KNOW Heal Area is a smaller range than 20 feet. Likewise, I'm fairly certain Channeling has a bigger range than that.

Really, we need some kind of mini-map diagram or something. Each skill seems to have a different definition of "nearby" (wasn't Panic changed to have a much larger area, yet still says "nearby?")... some kind of toggleable indicator of who's in range for what would be great. I hate having to experiment... finding the max area is such tedious work.

I believe that shouts, at least for Watch Yourself, have the same radius as wards.

How big is a nearby radius? Not big enough is all I got to say. You practicly have to be spooning the warrior to get the effect of his shout.

well anyways, I personally think chanelling has a way too tiny range, to make it efficient. Should really be updated.

For this one skill, or all of them?

I just got Revive Pet, which has a stated range of 'nearby' but when standing just one henchman's width (imagine Orion standing between me and the dead pet, taking up all the space) from my pet, it didn't revive her. I had to get to within touch distance before it worked. I can't imagine a situation other than IWAY PVP when I could get that close to more than one pet at once, making this skill completely useless to me.

I knew that it would come in handy as least once! Here we go, straight from the "ever so accurate" strategy guide.

AoE Description-------------------------Range
Melee, Touch--------------------------2 feet
Adjacent------------------------------13 feet
Nearby Near the Target----------------20 feet
In the location in the area-------------26 feet
Any Shout-----------------------------39 feet

I know it can't be terribly accurate but it gives someone something to go on. As for how to measure, assume that a female monk model is 5 feet tall and a male warrior model is about 6 and a half feet tall.

Well, as a comparison, the range of the "80 foot" bows is approximately the aggro circle. 240 inches, or 20 feet, would be a fourth of that.

I am not the brighest GW player, but from what I beleive, if you are 50 feet away as a Necro and you use something like Touch of Agony, it will not affect any of your foes.
