Default any help with my mesmer possible?

i advertise myself as a damage dealing mes (PvE & PvP), with skills as such:

1. chaos storm(ONLY to be used on grouped up casters that have become common 15 dmg per hit and energy loss for each casted spell by enemy)
2. energy surge, 80 instant armour ignoring damage to THE AREA
3. energy burn, 80 instant armour ignoring damage
4. shatter hex, 126 AOE damage... no need to say more
5a. inspired hex, energy gain and hex removal
5b. shatter enchant, used it on the lich yesterday, he was down in less than 45 seconds
5c. glyph of lesser energy, negates an energy cost for one spell as none of my spells are more than 15 energy
5d. arcane echo, double shatter hex
6. backfire, 146 damage every cast for 10 seconds... once again no need to say more
7. empathy, 19 second 29 dph, a set and forget anti warrior cast
8. res sig, yawn

mesmers can do INSANE amounts of damage, as you can see, but is there any way to improve on this??

thanks in advance for the help, and if you are going to flame the build i use as "too wide" please also provide some CONSTRUCTIVE criticism with it

2 Comments that I have.

Firstly : Chaos Storm - I'm not a big fan, it's too easily evaded. Try switching for Wastrels Worry instead, decent damage for a very spammable skill.
Secondly : Empathy - Not an incredible skill IMO - but as you have Energy Surge AND Burn - try taking MindWrack with you - if only to stack a bit of extra damage on Warriors that are almost guaranteed to be drained completely by those 2 spells.

Oh, 1 further thing - I'd take Shatter Enchantment as a permanent skill - I love it to bits - probably my most used Mesmer skill

i know its easily evaded, but if you stay in range of the target casters, they will stay in the storm and preceede (sp?) to lose energy (my main use for this skill)

the surge & burn was for extra damage to that one target, a quick kill, but i might try mind wrack later

also if i get rid of surge, is there an anti-warrior elite hex that is good damage? (not really familiar with the elites for my mesmer...)

this is the skill that goes with me into PvP mostly, i dont find it as useful in PvE because the NPC enemys dont really use maintained enchantments

It sucks (flame).

Almost nothing is good in both PvP and PvE, if you want to be good at either one you must specialize for that role and adjust your skills accordingly, although for PvE you can run a mediocre build and still cruise through the game easily (constructive criticism).

Is glyph of lesser energy really necessary, considering the energy management skills already available to you as a mesmer?

I've played only PvE, so my suggestions are for it

1.- Chaos storm. Even in the conditions you're saying it's not worth a slot for that. You could use, f.ex Cry of frustration on just one of them to interrupt the whole group of casters, and that, to interrupt them, is more important than the dmg or the small loss of energy

2,3.- Energy burn, energy surge. Yeah, used it a lot in the whole game (energy burn), finished it, and find it useless now.

4.- Shatter hex . I find it a must, but well, it depends on what do you want to do.

5.-a,b good ones c .- ?????. Throw it d.- good if you want to use your Elite for anything else and still want echo, beware the high cost.

6.- Uber for killing any tough caster ). But, at such a high cost, not very echoable. (35 energy cost with echo and 45 for Archane echo if want to cast 2 backfires ).

7.- emphaty.
30 dmg everytime they attack seem nice, if they attack often ( Charr's f.ex ) , don't do great dmg and don't have big hp, but further in the game the foes have more health , attack not that often but do more dmg per attack.

You want to do loads of dmg, but for that is better you go for a fragility or such premade build. Take a look at the forums and you'll find several examples for that.

Agree with White Design here. Mesmers have IMO too focused skills, and a far too short skillbar to spread it trough all what a Mesmer can do. Ask yourself what do you want to do and fit your skillbar acordingly.

Not very Constructive i know, but even with a 750K exp Mesmer i'm still learning how to use it efectively.

I'll trow here one of the builds i use in FOW,just as example

Backfire, arcane conundrum,Cry of frustration,Power Leak, Clumsiness, Shatter hex, Echo,Signet

Conditions of this build (THIS is important, and thats why i made this build this way)

fow has short fights and many casters. This is mainly an anti-caster build, but with echo + Clumnsiness can be also usefull agains warriors or melee fighters (160 dmg + 2 interrupted attacks). The bad side of this build is that has no energy management, so if battle goes long you'll have troubles. Have maxed Dom and Ill.

This build can be critisized, but the idea is that you cannot have a "All using" build, but have to adapt to the situations your'e facing.

Death Magic 7

Backfire - 119 dmg
Conjure Phantasm - 12 sec -5 H degen
Mantra of Persistence - 74 seconds Illusion spells last 79% longer
Migrane - for 25 seconds -3 H degen and spells take 100% longer to cast
Power drain - interupt and I gain 23 energy
Power leak - interupt they lose 22 energy
Power spike - interrupt +86 damage
Phantom pain - H degen -3 for 17 seconds suffers Deep wound lowering max health by 20%


Extra Spells: Rotting Flesh & Epidemic
