Healing Breeze versus Orison of Healing
For all of you monk secondaries...I'm having a hard time choosing between these two for a quick self-heal.
The stats:
Healing Breeze: For 10 seconds, target ally gains health regeneration of 3-8 - 10 energy cost.
Orison of Healing: Heal target ally for 20-60 points - 5 energy cost.
At a level 10 healing prayers attribute, you're looking at a 7 pip Healing Breeze per second versus a 50 point Orison Heal.
Over the length of the spell:
70 health for healing breeze for 10 energy
100 health for orison of healing for 10 energy
That would lend to Orison being the better value for the energy. However:
Drawback - You have to waste another second casting Orison again
Benefit - You can Orison 3+ times during those 10 seconds.
I'm torn. I hate spamming Orison like that, but the energy cost on healing breeze seems a bit steep. Breeze DOES free up your hands for an additional attack during that time, but at the same time you lose the ability to spam Orison when your health is really down.
Thoughts?

Each health pip for Healing Breeze gives 2 HP, not 1.
As a self heal without Divine Favor, Orison isn't very good. Healing Breeze is more efficient and it takes up less of your time too.

For the healing breeze, isn't it 7 arrows of health regen? And each arrow is worth 2 hp/sec?? Thus, isn't it 140 health over the 10 sec., not 100?
I could be wrong, but that's my understanding. Also, I like it because it seems to heal at the same rate (or a little faster) than most pve enemies do damage. Thus, while it's preventing further damage (and at healing prayers of 12, I find that it actually is enough to do a good bit more than just damage prevention), you can easily bring that ally back to full health, or focus on other more dire allies.
edit: yeah, what the guy above me said
another edit: Make sure you note what kind of enemies you will be fighting. Against mesmers, the enchantment of healing breeze becomes a liability, whereas the spike heal is safer.

With an enchanting staff it adds 2 seconds to the duration. Bringing the total to 168 healing.

Very true. That makes me wonder whether the additional 40 health from healing breeze is worth the risk that you'll encounter enchantment strippers during you PvE sessions.
Again, if you spam Orison during those 10 seconds (assuming that you don't have an enchanting mod), you can achieve 150 health, but you just sacrificed 2 attacks. Seems like a pretty steep cost. But maybe the additional utility of knowing that your Orison can't be canceled is worth it.

:: Shrug :: Bring both. Use HB until it gets stripped. Then use Orison. Sometimes (like if you get spiked) you might want to have both on you.

Many of us Monk subclasses really don't have the space to carry two healing spells without sacrificing siginficant offensive abilities. Think about it...if you carry 2 healing spells and a ressurection spell, that only leaves five slots for your primary class abilities.
That's a steep cost to pay, especially if you have the inclination to use any other monk enchantments.

If this is for a warrior, healing breeze is quite good, you won't be recieving much damage anyway and be healed quite effectively for 10s which during that time you can spam all your attacks. Its just not good against enchantment strippers, then can tare you apart with damage.

Allow me to make a suggestion, if you're not a w/mo.
Have you considered using Heal Area as a self heal? If you're a backline caster, or if you're taking damage from ranged mobs, the "healing enemies" part doesn't mean much. Good tactical use can also allow you to heal allies with it at the same time while minimizing its effect on the enemy.
It's a powerful insta-heal that also avoids the enchantment strippers.

If you use boon, or are a spammer, use Orison, if you dont, try Breeze. Btw, I prefer having both

as a monk primary
i usually take along
orizon, breeze, touch and heal other
breeze against degen, orizon for small heals, touch for self heal, and other for times where it's essential to heal fast and to heal alot
but then again i usually play heal/protect (pve) or heal/smite (pvp)

When some target is getting heavy damage and you are healing monk, sometimes you cannot "stand the line" with normal heal patches (I've got an ally killed before the 2 secs of orison are recharged!), so you can shot some Breeze and during that time support with orison. You can save the ally but for 10 mana. It is special case spell, not pump spell.

Depends on the build IMO.
Suppose you're throwing around Life Attunements on your casters, Orison would be far more effective. If you have a high DF attribute, Orison will take advantage of that twice for the same energy cost as breeze.
Also consider Aura of Faith, WITH life attunement. That is one hell of a spike heal for 5 energy from the orison.
In favor of breeze, 20% longer staff wrapping (or whichever end it goes on) and Blessed Aura. 15 second breeze, heals for 50% more than a normal breeze.

its a spell and always be countered. that's the main thing you need to look at. if you can cover up breeze then>orison. when you use orison you have to spamm it constantly and if you are being attacked it won't do your any good seeing as most warriors are doing over 30+ dmg now of days. not to mention letting your target get away from you while you spam orison.
i'd take breeze and cover it with vigorous spirit or shielding

Why not use your healing signet it gives more than orisons?Breeze is fine but you are going to have to keep pumping it all depends on the damage you are taking then you start loseing energy that you might need.
