Ranger Farming Builds?
Hi,
I've read in loads of places that Rangers are major crapola when it comes to farming. I've had GW for 2 months now and I've still to do the last mission but aside from that and a few other quests in various places the whole storyline aspect has been completed.
Now, its only been very recent [Read: Last week] that I've become exceptionally interested in farming and PvP. I've been to UW about 6 times as part of a trapper group and nabbed myself a couple of ectos but that about it. I've done about half of Sorrow's a few times and got a couple of green items.
I'm very poor. I have 2000 gold to my name and want to make some money so I can buy a perfect weapon. My best weapon by far is my blue Shocking Eternal bow of Fortitude, max damage, health +20. I'd really like a much better weapon and as it is I wouldn't say no to some more armour. I currently have LA armour and want Droks.
So, the actual purpose of this thread: Are there are tried and tested builds for rangers that will work? Hell, are there any untested builds I could try? I have pretty much all the Ranger skills and at the moment I have a R/W. I also have direct access to getting my secondary as a Necro or Mesmer - the others I'd have to quest for.
I really need some money and the purple and gold items I have nobody wants as they're not exaclty perfect....
Thanks
-Adam

Trapping is your best option for soloing, hands down.
Try searching the forums for good solo trap builds.

I've soloed with a pet build, it can be tricky to get the aggro onto your pet, but once you get good at it you can protect the pet via Call of Protection/Symbiosis and deal a pile of damage to the crowd around him using barrage+buffs (for example). Takes practice, but a big hearty pet with a ton of damage reduction survives really well, and so long as you stay at flatbow/longbow range they shouldn't switch aggro. Works well vs melee mobs.

well first of all, its gonna be pretty hard to solo stuff with only LA armor
i would suggest keep doing SF runs until you get a green that'll sell for a bit, then buy ur drock armor, then solo farm
i used to be able to solo sand drakes outside of elona's reach with a r/w in 15k druids using an axe. i dont have the character nemore, but the skills were
swift chop
wild blow
cyclone axe
apply poison
whirling defense
healing signet
troll unguent
sprint
anyways, it cant take on that many at once, but if you avoid using healing sig when they use aftershock, it should be fine. works with blessed griffons too i think

go kill grawl outside of port sledge..about 4 chests per run...kill all the grawls..bring the 2 healers, 2 fighters, and the mage..great way to get gold and items..sell the crappy drops...ALSO the trick to get more for ya buck on white items..is to identify it...it adds bit more gold to it.
