Default monk/necromancer ?

Hello people just started today and i was looking at what primary/secondary i should choose.

I dnt know much about what all the stats mean and what i should take into account so id like to ask you the players.

Basically im looking at a monk/necromancer just wondered what your veiws would be on that and if its a valid choice to go for.

please leave you comments/link to anything that could help me determine what type i should go for thank you

I dont know much about Mo/N but i do know that it is a very very good combination, try writing some skill combinations down on paper for farming, pvp or just doing missions with parties. Almost all builds work well, some not as good as others but its what you prefer. You can find a list of all skills on the main page of this site.

Being a monk primary, you'll have no problems finding a team. Though if you plan to use more necro skills than monk, warn the team about that.

For your necro skills, well of blood can be good, so can the curse line (there's mark of pain, and one aoe curse that causes weakness, good stuff).

Remember though, people tend to play sloppy with a monk on their team so you may end up spending all your energy healing.

I just raised my monk to 20 (ascended last night). Not sure if I want to continue with him.

I spend a lot of time watching my party window instead of the actual fight. Then again, not everyone plays like me, so your experience may be wholly different from mine.

There's no wrong way to play your Mo/Ne. Just be sure let a team know ahead of time if you're not comming in as a full healer or protection monk (that is, if you don't go as one of those two). Otherwise people can get angry when you surprise them with curses and wells.

I agree with Toast - people tend to NOT play within the team with the knowledge that there's a healer onboard. Don't be shy about telling party members that you've no problem healing them...since that's what a Monk does, but you won't waste time/energy unnecessarily if they insist on sticking their face in the path of a Meteor Shower or Chaos Axe.
...let em die for the sake of the rest of the team :-)

But yeah play with that combo a little and see how you like it, but definitely let your team know what you're bringing to the table. Mark of Pain is an underrated skill that a necro can bring.....sweet amounts of AOE dmg without costing allot and that works off the same principles of "focus fire" <--nice mention Toast.

I'd say your better off as a necro/monk, strictly for the energy gain from soul reaping, i have a n/mo and i like it better than when my mo was a mo/n. The inportant thing for any monk or spell caster is energy management, and a necro prime does this really good, as a n/mo i can heal a lot better than mo/n, and don't gimme that garbage about divine favor etc, there isn't a lot of divine skills to begin with, and a lot of monks end up having to heal so much they reach 0 eng very quickly, even with 2 monks on a team get lazy and both can reach 0 eng at any point in a battle if their not careful.

Also, your prolly better off setting 2 attributes at full, and just filling in the rest wherever depending on yer skill setup, rather than spreading yourself out too much.

It's better to be great at one thing than crappy in 5 or 10.

Yeah, there's no reason to be mo/ anything UNLESS you want to use spells that target team members. That's it. Anything else (curser... ooh, defile flesh+scourge healing) and it's better to be the other as primary.\

My prot build is a Mo/N with offering of blood for energy management. But that's the only necro skill it has. All the rest of the build is focused towards just one thing.
