i pwn with it
a good skil i use is gladiators defense... 75% chance to block, perfect for using healing signet. use it in combo with benetties defense... 150%chance. there ya go... invincable for a bit of time

There are only 2 occasions where sword seems better than axe. Sword can bleed, which is a solid -3 regen at 4 adrenaline. Sword can also instant cripple, which is not that significant because sprint > cripple.

The axe's damage is greater than the sword's, but not for the reason you cited. Normally, the extremely low min damage on axes gives swords the edge on damage. However, since an axe's max damage is higher, when put side by side, an axe will do more dps due to its crits, just not as consistently.

only problem with that is they're both stances, and you cant use two stances at once~
you'll just override gladiator's defense when you use bonetti's.
