Magical attacks always hit, except for manual dodging the projectile spells such as flare. No stance prevents getting hit by magic.

Actually, there're rare instances of being able to dodge magical projectiles without moving, but Swirling Aura is the only skill I know of that can do that, which is an enchantment.
But to reiterate, attacks are performed by a weapon inherently, and attack skills are labeled as "Attack"s or "______ Attack" where ______ = Pet/Weapon

I always hated it when I'd cast flare and I'd see "dodge" appear as my attack missed. Yet if I was to run around in circles or away from enemies or hide behind rocks. I still ALWAYS get hit. Its to bad we can't all have luck to every now and then "duck" or "dodge" magical or other forms of attack.

Guardian used to block magical projectiles, but I see they took that out

it's not luck most of the time. people know how to move to dodge the skills. thats why you shouldnt use flare in pvp.. its well.... not as good as other things...

If you are moving more or less consistently, it will always hit you. Projectiles are programmed in this game to automatically lead the target. So if you are moving one way when they fire, and then switch to the opposite direction immediately afterwards, it will miss. But simply moving in a straight line is not enough.

An attack is any damage initiated by a sword, axe, hammer, wand, staff, or bow. A melee attack is initiated by a sword, axe, or hammer. A projectile/ranged attack is initiated by a wand, staff, or bow. Any skill with "spell" in the description is not an attack and is not affected by defensive block/evade stances. Some stances only affect melee attacks and others only affect ranged attacks.
Guardian didn't really block magical projectiles, i.e. lightning orb, flare. That's why they just changed the description.
