which are better to have? the low level but more minions or high level but less of them horrors

Also, you have to take into account that it's more costly to summon the minions. For my Mo/N, it never made sense to use minions, since they were a huge drain on my mana reserve. For a Necro primary, they might be better, especially if you're going up against high lvl mobs that can 1-hit kill your horrors.

It depends. Although summoning minions cost more you also got more bodies to play with (i.e. death nova), and your will reap twice the benefit of soul reaping when they die.

personally? Bone Fiends. They have more hp then bone horrors or minions (from what i've seen) and stay alive longer. Combined with both Verata's Sacrifice (from copperhammer mines), Blood of the Master, and the fact they are lvl 18 (get a superior rune) you can easily keep about 8 fiends up all the time (if in a PUG - in guildmates, i had 23 running behind me) some people think this is overkill, but casting barbs on a mursaat boss and watching my minions take him out on their own is quite nice to watch :P

right from what ive seen if you want to pvp with a summoner go feinds and horrors. jsut becuse no one bothers with them and killing them . so othe lvl 18 of both altho the helth timer is not that much of a bonus because no one trys to kill them but the extra damage thay do at lvl 18 is a plus point

Now on the other hand if your playing pve and this is what i do most.
use feinds and minions mostly minions. becuse you can happly solo missions with out any one else if you use minions the best sercamstance i can think of is. i had around 30ish lvl 14 minions (not horrors) Minions eg 2 a cast and well i dmanaged to solo though the hole mission (DC) wit no probs and the primary necro soul reaping is very good with minions.

But as i said minionsi al the lway in pve thay act as a good wall for you mobs are thick. horrors for pvp players are not SO thick

Get someone to use Energising winds. Now all of them cost 10. Minions become probably the best energy gain mechanism in the game - 15 soul reaping gives you 35 energy every time you raise them essentially (15 when the creature died, minus 10 for the casting, +15 each when they die) so you are cackling all the way to the bank. Assuming roughly equivalent decay, if you are raising 2 corpses a minute you are netting 3.5 extra pips of regen, and it's not hard to keep that rate up. 4 corpses a minute and you are getting 7 extra pips. More energy than you know what to do with. Death novae for everyone!

general rule:
Minions = energy source/death bombs.
Fiends = best interaction with a party - doesn't body block as much, easier to keep alive
Horrors = good for tanking if you need that, easier to keep alive than minions.

generally the minion are there to support while horror are more for offense...

bone minion body block alot better... it also have more total hp per summon... that means things like taste of death and infuse condition and so on would be more effective over all. And of course... death nova...

if you really want to do regular attack offense then you should really go bone fiend...
