Or Incendiary Arrows and Choking Gas. Or Practiced Stance and Choking Gas.

What would be the objective of combining Poison Arrow and Choking Gas?

I can't really think of one. Poison is pretty worthless unless you spread it across the enite opposing force, and Choking Gas is pretty pointless unless you keep focusing on one mage.

Poison arrow works best when you want to spread a condition across multiple targets (and annoy monks, like you said - though it's not really a big deal)... while choking gas works best when you keep interrupting the same target with it. It doesn't seem to me that they'd be working towards a common purpose.

I tried both at the same time with my ranger... didn't seem to really make any difference. Now for me, the preporation time for choking gas, I never noticed if it interupted anyone or not... But I love poison arrow.

Look at the recharge on Choking Gas. You need to spend your elite on Practiced Stance to get the most out of it. Besides, CG is more like having your attacks be interrupting attacks for the duration... there is no "cloud" of dust that lingers. Switching targets makes this skill useless.

i find barrage better then poisen arrow in certain situations.. like in the uw, poisen arrow is good bcuz it helps degen the hp of them pesky lvl 29's, while in team arena barrage hits multi targets, so depends on what job your ranger needs doing.

Well, if you're going for all-out interrupts, you can also take Incendiary Arrows as your elite and alternate between that and CG (a good alternative if you just can't bring yourself to use any stance that's not TF).

Yeah - the "cloud" of gas only means that other foes standing within, say... 3 feet of your target will also be interrupted. So for all intents and purposes, CG is a one-target, spell-only interrupt.

You can use TF with Practiced Stance too. Just cast TF after you've prepped Choking Gas.

But after the choking ends, you'll have a few seconds of downtime waiting for Practiced stance to recharge. Unless you are also running QZ.

You can't run them together, but that's not the idea. You alternate between them. You'll be able to have one of them up pretty much constantly with high WS, and you are still free to run TF to reduce the space between each interrupting arrow.

With high Expertise and Wilderness Survival, which you should have for such a build, Practiced is ready at almost exactly the same time Choking Gas expires. In my experience there's at most 1s downtime, not including the 2s it takes to prep Choking Gas.

Get Choking Gas duration to 11 seconds and get Practice Stance to 40% (9 expertise, it quickly hits diminishing returns after that). You now have 15 seconds of Choking Gas duration to work with.

Because you are hitting Practiced Stance then spending 2 seconds casting Choking Gas. By the time you finished casting the prep, Practiced Stance has already been recharging for 2 seconds out of 15.

(this is when you hit Tiger's Fury/Frenzy, by the way)

When Choking Gas duration expires 15 seconds later, Practiced Stance is already ready for use.

~~~
Ofcourse for best effect, get your Wilderness Survival to 16 for 13 second duration on Choking Gas, and when you add +5 seconds from Practiced Stance, you get 18 seconds duration (the same as Melandru's Arrows), and no downtime other than what's needed to recast the preparation.
Now if only they added a 20% longer preparation duration bow grip to the game .
