Definite, Definitely Power Block, yeah.
/agrees with Banebow - I sure wish I could have a reverse video running to see the opposing monk for ele's face when all those skills blackout and start recharging <insert dasterdly snicker here>

Warrior- Glad's Defense
Monk- Mark of Protection
Mesmer- Energy Surge
Necromancer- Spiteful Spirit
Ranger- Too many to choose... Spike Trap, Oath shot, Poison Arrow are all favorites
Elementalist- Elemental Attunement
I wonder if they have more skills they'll add more skills slots, and if more skills slots, the ability to carry more elites...

my favorites for each profession:
elementalist: thunderclap
mesmer: ineptitude
ranger: barrage
monk: unyeilding aura
necromancer: spiteful spirit
warrior: gladiator's defense
Keep in mind that these are MY favorite, I've noticed that there are quite a few flamers on here that like to comment negatively about nearly anything that anyone else says. So, if you dont like my choices... keep it to yourself.

warrior: eviscerate (best single attack in game)
ranger: quick shot (though Eonwe is right those other shots are good too)
elementalist: glyph of renewal (so many ways to abuse this skill )
mesmer: crippling anguish/migraine (power block is overrated)
necro: offering of blood (best energy management in game)
monk: uhh, restore condition (not that you should be using a monk elite very often anyways, though)
i sincerely hope that everyone here that answered with "galds defense" or "healing hands" was being sarcastic.

umm, unless you ARE a monk. word of healing is amazing for a pure healer, shield of regeneration is a great butt saver, shield of judgment(is amazing)...and the list goes on.
glads defense is a great skill to let the monk have a bit of time to heal you, while you can still deal damage...great elite for a stance tank. i guess maybe you arent one though..

I do believe it was favorite, not most effective, elite skill.

Ranger- oath shot and Ferocious Strike
Mes- has to be the power block
Ele- glyph of renewal
Monk- Spellbreaker (nothing better than a mes trying to remove it with shatter enchantment over and over again going, "y cant i get rid of it")
Warrior- Eviscerate
Necro- spiteful spirit (it always funny to see one iway warrior kill his own team by himself)

My favorite mesmer elite has definitely got to be Power Block. As for my monk, I'd have to say Shield of Deflection...when used properly, you can keep this thing up forever, without having to worry about energy :P
Although I must admit, Unyielding Aura is quite fun as well...

Elementalist: Water Trident/Mist Form
Mesmer: Echo/Mantra of Recovery
Monk: Mark of Protection/Spell Breaker
Necromancer: Spiteful Spirit/Lingering Curse
Warrior: Dont have many good ones (aint into that style playing) but Victory is Mine! and Flourish seem decent.
These are just personal favorites, and dont relate to what I think is most effective.
