all battles always turn into a race to kill the other team's monks, it's been like this for.....forever.

In reponse to the question about "defending monks," it really depends on the type of build. I've run builds before with a necro bonder, who can spike and life bond all of the monks. Have also run builds using a W/Mo with succor. But yea, generally you see Mo/E glyph monks, OoB monks, VIM monks, or the typical Mo/Me.

It will probably be something like this:
Mo/Me
15 heal, 9 divine, 9 prot, 8 insp
Word, Seed, Orison/Dwayna's, Touch, Aegis, Veil, Inspired Hex, Channeling
or
16 heal, 10 divine, 8 insp
Martyr, Seed, Dwayna's, Orison, Heal Party, Veil, Inspired Hex, Channeling
These builds are pretty solid.

Martyr on a monk is a waste of skillslots. Either use Draw or Restore on the Prot, or Martyr on a /Mo.
