Unhappy Need New Monk Help!

hey i just started my new monk character in presearing, and im not sure what second profesion to use. I was thinking either mo/me, or mo/n because of there energy skills. I am going towards being a healer/prot if thats possible, or just protection. Tell me if you guys have any good build for a monk with any of those 2 second profesions. A bonder may not be too bad either if you have any ideas for that.
i am really stuck and your help is really appreciated. thank you.

In presearing, anything works. I prefer Mo/R (prior to finalizing secondaries) simply because I can get a pet. In early postsearing (pre-desert), I feel Mo/Me offers the most by getting some decent energy management in inspiration. In late postsearing (post-desert when you get the first chance for elites), you can change your secondary if you really want to for Mo/N to get Offering of Blood, but for PvE, Mesmer still works. Until you get to Yak's Bend, you pretty much need to go half protection/half healing because of your limited skills. Once you get there though, I find a boon protector to be most effective. This is because you can heal and protect at the same time. You can search for builds, but basically use Divine Boon, Reversal of Fortune, and Guardian (purchased in Ascalon I believe). Play the game and find the build you like in the desert and after.

Overall it is best to go Mo/Me pre-ascension. The best early energy management you can hope for comes from the Mesmer side. Channeling, Inspired Hex, etc. After you ascend consider switching to Mo/N for Offering of Blood. I recommend this to anyone, cap OoB and give it a try with 8-10 blood. If you don't care for it switch back to Mo/Me.

Many used to harp on about Energy Drain and Energy Tap. Energy Tap was never good, it was too slow to cast and during that long cast time people can die. Energy Drain wasn't so great since you had to target an opponent and hope they had energy. Now that elite is even worse with the change to it's recycle. The best energy elite for Mo/Me is Mantra of Recall. So with this in mind, post ascension, give Mantra of Recall a try as a Mo/Me and OoB as a Mo/N.

On a final note many like the Mo/E combi-monk running Glyph of Renewal+Divine Spirit. This combo won't be available til post ascension either.
