Default SF Protector's Build Advice

Okay, I'm looking for more help on my build. Here's what I'm running:

Blessed Signit
Life Barrier
Life Bond
Essence Bond
Balth's Spirit
Heal Area
Healing Seed
Rebirth

I drop my Prot level 2 to give myself enough healing to have a 150hp heal area and (I think) a 23hp Seed.

Heal Area is used exclusively for Minions.

I've tried a pure Prot Build (switching out healing for Mend Condition and Reversal), but it doesn't seem to work as well.

Any ideas on how to improve this?

Oh yeah, this is for Oro or FA farming runs, assuming a Keg or Gear Stance Tank.

you'll probably laugh but here's what i use to prot for oro builds and it works flawlessly. i would switch essence bond for vital blessing, rebirth for watchful spirit, and heal area for dwayna's kiss. let the necro tend for his own pets and get someone else to bring a rez *hint: have the tank do it*.

cast, balth's on yourself, then barrier, bond, VB and watchful spirit on the tank. you shouldn't have any energy problems and can enjoy a 100+ heal out of dwayna's on the tank for a measly 5 energy.

also make sure the you enchant the tank with life barrier first, then bond. you get more damage mitigation this way.

Here's what I usually do when i'm running protection

Life Barrier
Life Bond
Vital Blessing
Watchful Spirit
Life Attument (in furnace only)
Blessed Signet
Mend Ailment
Protective Spirit

Cast in that order from Top to Bottom...Now this build is only good if you've got a healing monk as well who brings Dwayna's Kiss but, all you'll need to do once inside Furnace. (assuming you are doing a Keg/Gear run) is keep using Blessed Signet for your Energy...and keep recasting enchanments when they get shattered

it sure does. essence bond is largely a wasted enchantment and skill slot when you are using a bonder build.

Healing Seed (Cover Enchantment #1)
Healing Breeze (Cover Enchantment #2)
Guardian (Cover Enchantment #3)
Life Barrier
Life Bond
Essence Bond
Balthazar's Spirit
Blessed Signet

GF: Bond War, and other 2 non-monks. Balth Spirit on yourself. Before aggro, cast Seed, Breeze, and Guardian. This lets the war get stripped up to 3 times without anything Vital being touched.

SF: Barrier, Bond, and Essence War. Balth Spirit Self, and cover enchants frequently.

tried a few of these and it's interesting how well they work, even though they're all a bit different. Of late I've settled on:

Blessed
Barrier
Bond
Life Attunement
Watchful Spirit
Balth Spirit
Dwayna's Kiss
Rebirth

No superior runes, with Heal 12, Prot 12, Divine 11 (I think these are right, may be off, but hitting breaks).

Nice thing is that Dwayna's Kiss does about 300 hp.

Thanks for all the advice. It's fun trying other people's builds to see how they play. Keeps Oro runs from getting boring.

I use:

~14 Healing (I typicaly don't use a healing sup outside)
~14 Pront (Only need this sup when casting the Barrier/Atunement)
~11-12 Divine

Blessed Sig
Mend Condition
Dywana's Kiss
Healing Touch
Life Bond
Life Barrier
Life Atunement (Used only inside SF)
Balth's Spirit

It drives me nuts when I see a pront monk stop at 4 enchants while outside of SF. A little degen won't kill 'ya, just keep throwing on bonds/barriers till you're at your max return from blessed sig. As long as you have enough Bonds, and half a brain, energy won't be a problem.

That being said, I'd seen a lot of quirky builds too. Why would you bring Pront Spirit? If your tank is getting hit for more than 10% damage you've got other problems. Ageis? Same thing... nice outside, but totaly usless inside.

Watchful Spirit does make a nice cover enchant, but thats what heal monks are for =P

As for Vital Blessing... More HP won't make the tank easier to heal, it'll just give you more time to react. With Vital Blessing, that one Orision, or Dywana's will heal for far more HP. Vital Blessing does not actualy help your healing. (For the same reason I don't like tanks who claim to be "HP tanks")

Here's my SF Prot build.

Blessed signet
Balthazar's Aura,
Watchful Spirit,
Balthazar's Spirit
Vital Blessing
Life Bond
Life Barrier
Rebirth

Sup runes on Smite and Prot, Smite - 14, Prot 14, Div 13. Use Wroth's rod and icon most usually or Yakslapper - Prot weps are cheap

Outside SF, I cast barrier, bond and balspriit on the tank, and life bond everyone else, and bal spirit on myself, that's 7 enchantments and bless sig at 13 will give me max 21 energy points back - just right - important bit is to stay out of golems who can rust you.

Once inside SF, the important bit is that the order of casting - barrier, bond, watchful, bal spirit, vital blessing. Note that Vital blessing takes shortest to recast so I apply it last on the tank, in case it gets stripped.

If I get life siphoned or deep wounded I put watchful on myself and if my health drops really fast, use vital blessing to bump it up. This can get to -5 degen in energy so will be out of fighting just to maintain these enchantments.

The bal aura is put there mostly for FA farming as a lot of times the ele + mm hasn't got enough firepower to kill Ivor. However, for other SF farming Bal aura is also very useful if you time it right with meteor showers.

Last, if I'm farming with friends I usually drop the bal aura and put life attunement there and adjust prot and div up accordingly.
