Default Jade scarab farmer?

Any ideas about what would be a good build against necromancer types? Its occured to me that jade mandibles are worth a pretty penny, and it would be sweet if i could get a farmer for them.

Who said Jade Mans. were worth anything?

Their THE most common drop next to bleached carapaces in the desert, and NOONE is ever buying them.

A much better choice is Dune Borrower Jaws. Plus to this..You'll get a fair amount of Jade Mans. too - since they spawn with the burrowers.

Just Pick up Alesia in Thirsty River, and make sure you pack some good healing yourself, and so out and own all the Dune/jade groups in the Scar.

I did that to get the Jaws I needed. And people buy the jaws for 200gp+ each. Got a few purple drops too.

Alesia doesn't take THAT many of the drops. Doing it yourself against the jades, who have Life steal (armor ignore) spells is alittle too risky.

I use a mixed Beastmastery/Marks build when farming Dune Burrowers for jaws outside Thirsty River, and it works well against the Jades that pop up when you kill a Burrower. Basic strategy is minimize the number of Jades you aggro (try to keep it to 2), keep the aggro on your pet, and learn their casting patterns so you know when to fire Distracting Shot so you can shut down Parasitic Bond.

Spiteful Spirit works very very well on those Scarabs: They use frenzy so it triggers much more often, plus they take dbl damage from it.

I use it all the time with my nec primary, but you could probably fit it into some kind of ranger build too

I recall seeing some bug use Frenzy, but I didn't think it was Jades. Aren't they the Necro bugs? Or is there 2 desert bugs very similar in appearance?

I farm the Jade Scarabs and Dune Burrowers all the time, not so much for money, although that is an inevitable side effect, but for the skill points and the pet levels. ^_^() I can't think of a faster way to bring a pet from level 15 to 20 than soloing outside Thirsty River. The occassional Rockeater Scarab or Forgotten don't cause any problems either.

In any case, I use a combined Beast/Marks build as well. I generally go with 12 Marks, 15 Beast, and 9 Expertise. I don't take any bow attacks, but use Tiger's Fury and Read the Wind to get some good output from my bow. I'll generally load up on pet attacks, among which Ferocious Strike, Disrupting Lunge, and Predator's Pounce are always found. Call of Haste is nice to have along, but could be interchanged with Call of Protection, depending on what you find yourself lacking. I prefer Call of Haste, as I like to carefully control aggro and drop enemies before they can run up to me instead of preparing for any long encounters. I've used Whirling Defense in place of Tiger's Fury before, but I really didn't like it. I prefer my defense to be my offense here.

Rock Devouvers(sp) are the same as the Jades except with an orange skin.

Appearance wise, you're right. They're the same models with slightly different colored textures. However, skill wise they are very different. Jade Scarabs are necromancers sporting Chiblains, Vile Touch, and Parasitic Bond as their main skills used. Rockeater Scarabs are warriors that like to use Penetrating Blow and Frenzy. The Jades have considerably less armor than the Rockeaters, however the Rockeater's frequent use of Frenzy makes them still drop far more quickly that the Jades who will heal themselves via Parasitic Bond.

Wait, 12 15 9... that's an 11 11 8 spread with 1 sup.. oh, nvm then.
For a second I was thinking of 12 10 8 and 2 majors.

Yeah, i enjoy killing scarabs, no problem if you have a little stance here and a little pbaoe there. Scar is easiest place, though, because pretty much all the other accessible places have rockshots spawning too.

It's VERY easy to farm those mobs if you know a proper way.

Dune burrowers cant run from aoe nor smiting.
Batlh aura on our pet, stances for evading their missiles and some poison/flame.

Anyway I dont think my time is worth 200gp per 5 min :]

Thanks, I am NOT losing my mind. I knew there were 2 similar appearing ones and that Jade Scarabs did not use Frenzy but were Necros, the begining of this thread caused me to worry over my sanity.
