PvE Beastmaster Orome's Build
Hi. Last times there aren't many beastmaster in the game, I hope this build will show the great power of that kind of Rangers.
Firstly : we absolutely need a pet on the 20 lvl. I suggest to do not take a bear, he's too slow. If you dont want to exp you pet since 5th lvl you should take an Elder Wolf ( he's near Thul The Bull in Spearhead Peak - map in the further party of the text) or Elder Black Widow.
Ranger / Monk
Our attributes :
We need only 9 Marksmanship because we DONT USE any of the Marksmanship skills - but we still use a bow.
Our Beast Mastery should be 15 - not big difference, but we get twenty attribute points to spend..
Smiting Prayers - 9, optimal value.
Expertise - rest of points, should be 9, its a energy cost breakpoint.
Weapon :
- we should use two bows, a longbow and a shortbow, and change it when the foes comes closer. IMO best choice is collectors bows ( remember to dye it, its easy to mistake which bow is which ).
- we should also have +10 Energy staff, for the critical moments. Good choice is Morgriffs Staff, with 10/10 Recharge and Casting.
Skills :
Basically, skill set depends on that where we go. You can swap Feral Lunge ( if mobs havent flesh ) for a Beastial Pounce ( against spellcasters ) and other - just try it.
Base skill-set :
Feral Lunge
Ferocious Strike (Thul The Bull.JPG)
Brutal Strike
Balthazars Aura
Call of Haste
Call of Protection
Comfort Animal
Charm Animal
Druid Set with Superior Beast Mastery, Superior Vigor ( if you are rich enough ) and other minors.
Tactic :
Before fight use Call of Protection ( CoP ) and Call of Haste ( CoH ). We send our pet to fight using longbow - when he runs to the enemy we should use Balth Aura on him, watch out to do not get too close*.
Pet most times attacks the same targets that we shoot from the bow ( and he stops attacking when we stop shooting ) - we have a way to control him.
Use three pet attacks when they are recharged but carefuly - it takes time until pet attacks with the skill and if we spam it, it wont stack. Just make some break between first and second skill-attack. Recast CoH after 30s and recast Balth Aura when its recharged.
Our pet does HUGE damage ( with skills about 60-70 per attack ) and we do some damage with our bow too ( 10-30 ) AND Balthazar Aura does about 20 dmg per second - this is deadly for most of mobs.
Our pet isnt targeted often, anyway keep CoP on him.
* - watch out to do not be targeted - this is the weak point of this build, our char hasnt got any self-healing and his life depends on the monks.
Good luck - I hope this text convicted you to try great and rare char who is the Beastmaster.
Anyway, sorry for my english, I'm pretty sure that I made many mistakes here - I hope its still readable .
Any comments are welcome.

This build is almost the exact same as my build.
Only I use:
16 BM
9 Expertise
8 marks
8 smiting
I use Pred's Pounce and Otyugh's Cry instead of Feral and Call of Haste. Monsters don't run away usually so haste is pointless.
And I like the bear. The Brutal Mauling technique maybe cosmetic, but it still looks cooler than any of the other pets [who don't do anything different while attacking]

CoH improves attack speed.

The build's boring. And I think Call Of Haste adds a grand total of 4 dps. Woop de doo. I'd only use it in a pure damage build to pump out attack skills faster, or interrupt with less of a delay.
I bet you could get more damage out of your build with r/n and using Mark of Pain instead of Balthazar's. And I see all that in BM and no TF.. what is that? To each his own, I suppose.
:EDIT: Use Call of Haste and TF.. and make sure your bow isn't elemental. That would make Mark of Pain dang juicy.

I have a real problem with using Balthazar's Aura in a pet build that actually means to use pet attacks for damage. Balthazar's Aura causes people (or enemies now) to run away, and the pet has real issues with running opponents. The AI waits quite a while after reaching its target before it begins attacking. Thus, if the foe is constantly in motion, the pet isn't likely to get off any attacks at all. In that respect, Balthazar's Aura is quite counter-active.

Why use a bow at all? Save the points in marksmanship since you aren't using any bow skills and just use a smiting staff.

Like you can see, this is build before the patch.
I'm thinking about Mark of Pain instead of Balt Aura... I'll make some build update later.
PS. Bow is an additional damage. Pet does 60 + 15-20 from your arrows.

i wouldnt use the bear in a beast masters build, because brutal maul cuts down the bears attack speed.
the other stuff seems ok except putting in points in markasmanship, just use long bow to give your pet a target and then switch to smiting staff.
my smiting-beastmasters build (which i completed the game with and did pvp) included zealots fire and draw conditions to keep your pet "un-blinded". for pvp just switch cop to coh. it works quite fine.

Yeah. This build is months old and first I saw it was on a different site's forum (one of the "Elite" sites) and it was termed Pet Smite Bomb.

I dont use CoP.
I use:
The attack that heals my pet
Feral Lunge
Ferocious Strike
Disrupting Lunge
CoH
Tiger's Fury
Comfort
Charm
I'm thinking of leaving out Comfort for Bath Aura since I have that pet heal skill, and monks. But henchie monks never heal my Icky.
