N/Mo Solo, untested
Tired of running Monk primary for solo'ing... Need more damage, so I want to try something around Dark Aura. Anyone tried something around this?
The build is 55hp with the offhand and the 5 sup runes...
N/Mo Dark Aura
Protective Spirit
Blood Renewal
Touch of Agony
Dark Pact
Offering of Blood {E}
Dark Aura
Vigorous Spirit
Mending
I'm hoping Offering will give this guy enough energy to work with, as spamming skills is needed for the heals from Vigorous Spirit (needed to cancel out the sacrifices and acts as a replacement for Divine Favor), as well as doing the damage. Blood renewal and Mending will give me 9+ health regen, which should be sufficient.
Attributes:
11+1+3 Blood Magic
9+3 Death Magic
8 Protection
8 Healing
0+3 Soul Reaping
0+3 Curses
This gives Prot spirit 15 seconds, which is enough, along with +3 mending and 8 health/spell cast healing. All the spammable skills are 5 energy and 20 energy per Offering should give this guy enough fuel. Whatcha think?

Unless someone can say otherwise, I'm pretty sure Dark Aura is one of the nerfed AOE spells, so you won't be able to use that skill without them scattering.

I tried a build similar to this, but the aura sacrifice is unaffected by prot bond/spirit search it.

Ouch so basically that's a no-go then...

I was using a 55 build last night with Dark Aura and I was taking reduced damage. It was fine. The sacrifices will bypass protective spirit though, so Offering of Blood will cost 6 life, and Blood Renewal will cost 14 life. Dark Aura will trigger from both of those, but does cause scatter.
I've ditched death magic for the time being and I'm going to try a 16 blood / 12 prot / 3 healing with these skills:
1 Dark Pact
2 Vampiric Gaze (possibly Shadow Strike / Touch of Agony / Blood Renewal)
3 Life Siphon
4 Offering of Blood (+16 net energy)
5 Mending (2 life regen)
6 Protective Spirit (19 seconds)
7 Watchful Spirit (2 life regen)
8 Balthazar's Spirit
The other thing I might try is dropping some attributes to get a +3 regen mending for more passive healing when fighting enemies that love to interrupt and use degens

Another thing to consider when you're doing one of these is that Divine Boon gives 25 HP heals even when you have no DF. My solo build tends to be waiting on recharge rather than energy, so divine boon helps tremendously... I mean, you only have 55HP... A 25HP heal is HUGE.
Worth considering...

The 55HP part of it is required because of the use of protective spirit. Check out the skill description to see why low health = good.
