(This is all pertaining to PvE, by the way. PvP is completely different ballgame, of course, since tanking basically doesn't exist there)
While Necros can make themselves quite difficult to kill at times, you're no warrior in terms of tanking and taking hits, especially sinceyou're wearing caster armor, so you might want to consider staying more of an offensive force than a defensive one, who drains/hexes/damages enemies while someone else holds them at bay. N/Ws can bring a lot of heat down on a mob, but they pay for it with a lack of defense. That's their weakness.
If you're insistent on tanking though, make sure you use the Tormentor's series of Necro armor, as its more AL than the standard caster sets, although it reduces your defense against holy damage (not too big a deal)

Blood is the only one you have a chance of tanking with. Curses has a few health spells.
Get some points in tactics and spam "Watch Yourself!"

My farmer is all about curses...
In early game, yeah, blood magic's HoT and bite-heal tactics works due to low hp counts and weak attacks, but you're picking a class with bad AL... Warrior = the tank armor...
Curses allows better tanking efficiency by far. Reducing dmg is a lot more energy efficient and safer than just healing away damage that you'll drain your limited energy for. If you get 3+ enemies on you, there isn't a single Blood Magic spell that will let you live in this game...
Curses has 3 for tanking... Enfeebling Blood, Shadow of Fear, Mark of Pain. This way, you have an army of melee foes swinging like slugs and hitting like bugs... The Mark kills them in only a few seconds flat if you use Frenzy or Flurry.

Yukito, this guy wants to be an N/W, though. For an N/W blood is more effective, for the W/N curses is. At least for what he wants to do :-P

ok, trying to put this into numbers... Im trying this not sure if this will work but what about this for numberes?
blood base 10
Curse? base 11
soul base 4
9 on what ever weapon I use
This is before equipment and im sure its bad, so please correct me? Thanks!!
Im currently at lv 7 with 6 points in blood magic. Thats it....

Ok, I am a N/W I wield a sword and idol with tormentor armor (bonelace leggings just cause they look cool.)
I feel I need the idol to have enough energy for all the casting needed and the armor choice is a must. Here are my current attributes. My lack of SR is due to its weakness in PvP.
10 +2 blood
11 +1 curses
10 swords
2 Soul Reaping
i feel both curses and blood work together. My skills change depending on PvE or PvP but mostly i use blood to aid survival and curses to weaken the damage done to me (along with the AoE). OK i'll tell my current builds now that i have bored you.
PvP
Plague Touch
Vampiric Touch
Galrath Slash
Final Thrust
Life Transfer
Strip Enchantment
Enfeeble
Res Signet
For PvE i trade out galrath slash and Strip enchant for blood well and mark of pain.
My tanking ability is decent but it depends on the amount of hexes I have on the MoB's therefore it is hardest to survive at the start of a fight.
