Necrotic Transversal
I have a few issues with this skill.
1) It doesn't work like other corpse explotations skills. All other corpse explotation skills work off of the nearest corpse. This allows you, with some skill, to basically use some strategy of where you would like to steal some hp, explode, or raise a minion from. This hurts the effectiveness of this skill as i can't count the number of times ill be standing on top of a corpse with mobs beating on me and i use necro transversal and move to the remain corpse of a boss i just killed far far away where there are no mobs. Again if this one was alwaysed reversed to work on the farthest away corpse i could use that as a strategy too, but that rule doesn't always hold true either.
2) Appearently this can't be used in anything but PvE and GvG matches. Seriously, why is this skill not allowed in other such match ups? Not only is this not in the skill description, but it goes against Anet's policy of functionality in both PvE and PvP.
3) Its range seems off, it may be because of terrain, but it looks like the range seems bonded to the size of the dead corpse. This throws off the usefulness of the skill.
Any ideas on this skill or other issues anyone else can think of?

I was trying to use it in arena the other day... boohoo...
I suppose the best use for it would be in GvG where there are gate in your way and your thief NPC is dead... then hopfully killsomeone thru the door or use siege to get a dead body going... and the rest you know... pop in and open the gate.

its unfortuneate because this skill could be useful ... but say the tombs for example ... they are open map with littel or not skill aside from kill team A faster than they kill you and you win, open map just a damage/damage prevention contest. I see all of these strategies and tactics being tossed around but the same teams that win, win fast. I realized this after being in a pug knocked out in 9 seconds by a coordinated Aeromancer team. yep you heard it her first 9 seconds.
I have to agree with you here ... this skill COULD be useful ... except none of the conditions EVER arise ... the one time it worked well ,,, ahem , they fixed on the last bug patch.

If you are talking about what I think you are you muight want to go back and try it again.
It cold be a timing thing with when Idid the mission and the patch but I did use this skill.
As a matter of fact I used to a couple nights ago to get into the iron mines fort.
The TR thing is not a bug it is proper use of a skill.
If I can stand next to a closed gate and be hit by the warrior on the other side I certainly should be able to go over the wall to get back at him.
Going through the wall is another matter though.

I can't say I like having Necrotic Traversal and Consume Corpse in the game.
This game was not meant to have teleportation skills, and entire missions and quests can be screwed up easily because you ruined the linear aspect of it by teleporting where you shouldn't have.
Take, for example, the Mission where you must take the Eye of Janthir to some city. (Can't remember the name >.<) Up at the point where you're supposed to get purified, if you kill the Mergoyles behind the locked door, you can teleport, go get cleansed, then the next mission objective will light up...
Only nobody else in the team got cleansed, and the door is still locked.
The game just wasn't made to take teleportation into account.

Usefull??
How about when your warrior is banging on a few bad guys he might like somemhelp.
Use consume corpse to get to him, really fast oh and BTW you get a little health boost to, drop a chilbains, maybe a vampiric touch or any number of a few other nice little tricks that can be done from close range.
Hop out again using consume corpse. Necrotic transversal can be used instead of consume corpse.
Although I wouldn't want to hang around within melee range for too long.
Now you want to talk about a skill tha should be removed..
Take out the sprints.
How can I use touch sklls if the dumb warriors can run away from me. Those people shold just stand still while I suck the life out of them.

Well I was suprised that this thread has been around this long (usually most of mine die hard and fast), but I think that makes a good point that this skill has issues.
Now for what I have noticed with me keeping this skill equipped. It teleports you to the corpse farthest away. This means that 9 out of 10 times if i haven't used every corpse in a previous battle, i will teleport out of range, into the previous battle area. Additionally, this skill doesn't have a reliable means of spreading poison as its an aoe that people have to be around a corpse.
Personally with as situational as this skill is I don't see the issue with it not being allowed in groups. Its situational, a good way of stopping other teams from exploiting corpses, and good anti train/stack skill. Additionally, as aforementioned, it doesn't make sense that something is PvE in a game where they are supposed to be balanced for both.

Regarding the issues of this spell, i actually feel this way about Necromancer in general. They get way too many spells that are "circumstancial" , in other words you line up your bar with these cool stuff and realize each of them can only be used under really "lucky" conditions. ESPECIALLY in PvP . I turned my Mesmer prime into a Pure Necro with Fast Casting for kicks in PvP, boy did i get a surprise when either the skill didn't work as intended [nice well of suffering in the middle nowhere] or the condition never appears and i'm left by doing a kamakazi-sacrifice another-50%-of-your-health-thanks-for-nothing-move to be of any use. Even worse, if you're not either
(a) running out of corpses
(b) exploiting the wrong corpse
(c) running out of enough health to risk sacrificing
then the mobs are immune to your spells [and then they don't even leave a corpse on top of that]....
Although i must say i have used Necrotic a few times to good effect in PvE, BUT only under the right circumstances [when 10 ettins suddenly charge onto your warrior [make that my henchmen monk] and well the only corpse around is either my monk or a dead ettin :P]. At least its very cheap :P
As for Soul Feast: I just checked in PvE it definitely uses 10 Energy , dunno about PvP. It DOES however have NO RECHARGE time i believe :P

Ok i just found another reason why the game clearly are not "prepared" for teleport spells. In the Oasis area you get all these portals and ravines in between, alot of mobs tend to be in these "Basins" and "ravins" below, if you kill one you can teleport into these places. Now all cool and fine, but if you are ONLY with henchmen [probably with players too] you can not get resurrected! And you know what happens if you have 5 Henchmen standing like idiots on top a mountain when your corpse lies down below out of their reach? You are forced to restart the map...
Now i did that on purpose to sea if i can take shortcuts, but this can easily happen by accident too [i'm sure everyone has been attacked by ranged mobs from above/below bridges for example, same applies in these ravines]. You would basically be screwed being alone while the entire group cant get to you.
