Divine Favor heals for 3.2 health per point, for any Monk spell that you cast on an ally (including yourself), even Protection and Smiting spells that target an ally.
For example, if you had 12 points into Healing Prayers and 0 points into Divine Favor, then Orison of Healing will heal for 60. If you had 12 points into Divine Favor and 0 points into Healing Prayers, then Orison of Healing will heal for 58. Now, it looks like Healing Prayers are better, right? Not exactly. When you put points into Healing Prayers, it only makes Healing Prayers better. When you put points into Divine Favor, it makes every single Monk skill better, in all three trees, with the exception of a few Smiting Prayers skills that target an enemy (surprisingly, Balthazar's Aura will heal the ally that you cast it on, and Symbol of Wrath will heal you, when you cast it, because of Divine Favor).
I use these stats for a Monk:
Divine Favor 11+3+1=15 - Superior Rune + Helmet
Healing Prayers 10+1=11 - Minor Rune
After that, I throw additional points into Protection Prayers or something from my secondary profession, with maybe another point into Divine Favor.
Right now, here's what I have:
Divine Favor 11+3+1=15
Healing Prayers 10+1=11
Protection Prayers 10+1=11
Reversal of Fortune
Word of Healing
Signet of Devotion
Protective Spirit
Aegis
Heal Party
Remove Hex
Rebirth
