Default R/Me or R/N for Mass Chaos?

Ok, looking over the skills, and realizing I don't have a Ranger character yet, I figured I'd make one.

I would prefer to disable an enemy team/mob than to try and kill one, since by weakening the whole enemy it makes it easier for my team to do their job.

So I looked through the skill lists. It seems that a Ranger spreading conditions like Poison and such, then using Epidemic (Mesmer General) would not only be an effective way to spread conditions and weaken the team, but in a pinch, the Ranger can also do decent damage.

Of course, there are other skill combos, but the Epidemic skill just struck me as totally cool!

Would there be a reason to take Necro instead? I have a W/N who is awesome, but it seems that most of the Necro skills are more geared towards disabling physical damage, and I'm more interested in taking out casters.

On a side note, would there be any pitfalls to doing a Me/R instead? Better energy and regen would be the main points, as well as getting Fast Cast, but then there's the loss of Expertise and associated skills. Just looking for input.

I'm still kinda a newb but i've done a lot of research and use a R/N currently lvl 18. The only reason i'd go with R/M is to interupt casters/ other rangers. A lot of R/M use Con phantasim which gives life degen of around 60. Necro has life syphon which can do life degen of 66 and gives you life replen of 66. Also I like Rottin Flesh for mobs. You disease on creature and the disease/poison spreads to other nearby, similar creatures for at least 11 seconds i think more though. I think R/N is more versatile, you have many more life replenishing skills to help you and team such as life transfer/syphon, well of blood, also various other skills such as Weaken armor whihc is nice vs warriors, and last of all Minions. I'm pretty productive in a group spamming my arrows and spreading fire damage or psn to all enemies. I use either Ignite for mobs or use Rotting flesh if they are packed tight then my dual shot, hunters shot if one is running for bleeding, which matched with psn drains life quick. I also have a Poisoners longbow which lengthens the time they are psn'd. Anyway these are my , somewhat "newbish" opinions.

Not to burst your bubble, but I think every R/Me known to man has tried to make epidemic work, and failed.
Post if you've been able to pull it off. I haven't
Epidemic is just about worthless.
I still like R/Mes though.
Cheers.
