Unexpected Hydromancer
Well, as far as I know, these are very rare to be found in pvp. Its usually just the pyromancers or mainly the aeromancers now. I was bored today so I decided to try out some of the pre-made pvp templates for kicks. THe hydromancer one caught my eye and I decided to play it. I lost the first few matches (for lack of a monk, and mostly because almost every group I was in had only casters, this is just 4v4 arena btw). Then when I had another ele, a monk, and a ranger, this build did pretty well, won some consecutive matches until a group of 2 monks, and 2 w/mo's came in.
Heres the build to refer to.

Its mostly a supporter role, but it deals damage as well. Bascially cast aura of restoration, water attunement near the beginning of the clash of worlds, and then you can go many ways. Water trident spam that w/mo thats heading for your groups monk, knocking him down and making him take some dmg, and then while hes down cast ice spikes, and water trident him again. You won't deal much dmg that warriors cant heal with orison or healing signet, but its some.
Or you could go another way. Instead of water tridenting the warrior chasing the caster, cast ice spikes/deep freeze(if there is a group of warriors coming), then either water trident the one that is closest, or cast glyph of lesser energy and then maelstrom them. Them being slowed, its hard for them to reach the running monk. And once they gain speed again, water trident them to hell, and try to hurry up and cast deepfreeze/ice spikes. Maelstrom will usually hit them pretty hard, and interrupt any spell they are casting each time it hits. (correct me if im wrong).
This isn't any anti-caster build -- yet. But the necro role is just rend, which imo, can be achieved better with a me as a secondary. I was just wondering if the below build could achieve some anti-casting if I decided to turn away from the warriors for awhile and focus on the casters?
Water Trident {E}
Ice Shards/deep freeze
Water Attunement
Aura of Restoration
Backfire
Shatter Enchantment
Chaos Storm
Maelstrom
Just shatter/drain replaces rend, and just zap a quick backfire on the monk, and maelstrom them (as tehy wouldn't be moving much anyways). (I could cast ice shards/deepfreeze before, so they move relatively slow, then chaos + malestorm) which would make them lose crazy amounts of life, and with chaos, drain energy while they try to cast anything. Shatter/drain is just to get rid of those pesky health regen enchants and deal dmg while doing so. I know its not good to switch back and forth between one type of character, and I should focus only on killing one type, but I am just wondering if this will work for 4v4, or 8v8. I could drop chaos or male if I wanted/needed something else, or even aura. Suggestions? (I haven't really tested this out yet though)
Also an ele/r....
Same things, except replace rend with seprents quickness, and since all the spells take a long time to recharge (except for water trident, which is always fun to spam), it would help more than rend? But I wouldn't want to play through the whole game just to get serpents. =/ Dunno, I'm a noob at PvP, and was just recently intersted as my guild mates seem so excited about it..
Oh yeah, jsut to add, when I was playing this char, I got targeted almost close to last (before w and r though), because I guess people felt that I was not a threat, as all I was doing was using ice shard/deep freeze and it was dmg that people thought that it was nothing that they couldn't heal in a matter of seconds, so I got ignored, while water tridenting their warriors and letting my monk escape. Although, some of them got frustrated when I kept water tridneting them and left the monk and started targeting me. (Arena 4v4 monks aren't that smart, they keep running even after they have been stopped being chased , and forget there are others that might need help..)
Another point I thought of when editing this post, what about e/w? Some stances that make you block melee attacks or evade them, or ele/r again and take out aura or glyph for throw dirt..
