ptrotection, what class/secondary ???
Hi,
I want to build a "protector monk" spamming enchants for my new guild (GvG), as I guess we will use symbiosis (or not).
Basically, what primary (and armor) is the best for this task???
- El/Mo: Energy storage can't be bad. Earth and water have protections.
- Mo/El: divine favor is nice and allow to heal a bit too.
- En/Mo or En/EL: should allow to cast more spells per minute, but I don't know.
I did try to search (not for long) in the forum, without success. So any help on this role (protector) is welcome

Mo/E, in my opinion. The Divine Favor bonus makes your Protection spells much more effective. Something like this would probably work well:
11 Earth Magic
10+1+1 Protection Prayers
10+1 Divine Favor
Reversal of Fortune
Mend Ailment
Remove Hex
Protective Spirit
Ward Against Foes/Melee/Elements
Ward Against Foes/Melee/Elements
Guardian/Aegis/Shielding Hands/Signet of Devotion/Shield of Regeneration
Guardian/Aegis/Shielding Hands/Signet of Devotion/Shield of Regeneration/Restore Life/Resurrection Signet/Vengeance

I'm going to have to go with theclam here. A Primary MO with Divine favor tends to be significantly more effective not only because of the inherint effect, but because of all the AWESOME SKILLS that divine favor have. An example would be divine boon. With it, you can add an extra 65ish HP (Around 14 or 15 DF) along with another 35 from Divine Favor itself. Not to mention if you want to spam -Energy enchantment, you really should bring along blessed signet (ALSO A DIVINE FAVOR SKILL!!). As for secondary, I tend to choose E for the Earth defensive skills (I find them MUCH more effective than water).

A primary monk with DF apears to be the best on paper but at the rate that monks are attacked an E/Mo can last longer expecially if your not attacking or being very visible. (the other team ingores you mostly). I have played both extensivily and they are pretty equal. Try both with different builds and pick which you like best.

Going Mo/X (probably Mo/El) will let you use Divine Favor and Divine Boon to be a support healer by using your protection spells.
Going El/Mo will give you a lot more mana to use on your protection spells, so you can spem them a bit harder, again making life easier on the healer monk. (And you can use Divine Boon to get a ghetto Divine Favor bonus, if you want!)
Depends who you ask, really. I prefer the El/Mo route, since I look at it as "You are a protector. It's not your job to heal.". Others feel you need to be getting that 100 point heal with each spell, but I see that as spreading yourself across 2 jobs, which is bad in this game.

The whole point of going El/mo is to use the insanely good ether renewal energy machine. And of course wards as well.

Elementalist Primary also allows you to use more of the expensive protection spells. Monk primary largely demands that you use lots of cheap spammy spells, to gain maximum benefit from Divine Favor and Divine Boon.
That's not necessarily a bad thing, for either one, but that's the biggest different between primaries.
Mesmers get super fast healing, and partiularly ressurecting, but are definitely worse in overall healing than Elementalist or Monk primaries.

thank you very much!
I will go for the monk route I feel, mainly because I don't know it, and want to learn how it plays!
