W/Mo pretty much solo suggestions?
Haven't gotten the game yet (picking it up tomorrow it looks like) but being a firm believer in RTFM (read the ... manual) I've been perusing the boards contemplating the build for my first character. I've decided to go with W/Mo since on every other MMORPG I've played over the years there's just something incredibly satisfying about carving into a big group up close and personal.
What I'm wanting to go for is a char that can take a lot of punishment if need be but primarily is all about damage output since if the enemy is dead fast enough it doesn't ever get the chance to hurt you.
I end up usually running solo a lot only because most people aren't on at the same times I am and frankly sometimes I just don't want to deal with people. Some days I just want to log in and make stuff go squish. If I can find a team who know what they're doing I have no problem running with them for as long as they'll have me. I don't jump in over my head unless I'm sure I can handle it and if someone is in trouble I'm the first one to dive at whatever's whacking them and take the fall first.
All that aside I hate dying for stupid reasons, and I despise having to sit around and do nothing while stuff recharges (my own powers I mean).
Farming's not an issue, I don't mind smaller groups of enemies at a time.
As an example of the type of character I play, I'm currently addicted to City Of Heros and my 2 favorite characters are both regeneration scrappers with their regeneration jacked as much as possible so I can keep swinging all night if I have to without stopping. Or at least not for an apreciable amount of time.
Any suggestions as to how I would build a character with the above thoughts in mind?

So let me get this straight...
You want a character that can take a lot of damage... and also deal a lot of damage.
Hmm....

i'm a warrior monk and my build is great (for me at least) so far it's workin out good.. at almost level 14...
(this is what i aim to be at 20)
Axe mastery 10
strength 9
healing prayers 9
smiting prayers 8
protection 3(don't use these prayers alot though)
i like axe because it's faster than a hammer but more range than a sword... i also like the skills it give ... but if you want you could sub axe for either sword or hammer mastery
nothing here is maxed but i have a good range.. take a lot of damage and deal it out... also keep myself and others alive
i have the gladiator armor for the energy pluses...
my skill bar right now usualy looks like this
res spell (not signet)
heal party
orision of healing
smite
frenzy
power attack
dismember
endure pain
bane signet is good, but smite deals more damage even though it doesn't knock the target down...
this can be played around with plenty.. but it works great for me...
just some thoughts

well although u may be happy with your build its not gonna be great at lvl 20, u need to focus on JUST 3 things to have max potential at any class if u spread points out to thin your character will be too thin, id go axe, healing and prob strength or u can trade str. off for smiting for your aoe damage but u should lose protection since 3 isnt much points there and u say u dont use it, max your healing, and damage output the rest wont matter

Don't worry about this. Once you get out of the newbie zone, every single town will have several free, AI controlled, henchman at the exit. You can make a full group with those, without having to deal with another player. In my limited experience, pure soloing (no henchman, no allies) is very difficult unless you're facing low level enemies.

Don't worry about this. Health and Energy regenerate quickly and most of your abilities regenerate in a few seconds (a few rare skills take 60s to regenerate, but most take less).

W/Mo sounds good for this playstyle. You can use Monk skills like Mending (a buff that increases your target's life regeneration, but decreases your energy regeneration), Live Vicariously (every time your target attacks, you gain life, but your energy regeneration is decreased while using this skill), Balthazar's Spirit (every time your target gets hit, it gets Energy and Adrenaline, which is special mana that only warriors use), Healing Breeze (increases your health regeneration for 10 seconds) to live longer, while using Warrior skills to deal out damage.

Not necessarily take a lot of damage. At least able to take enough so that getting one shot is a rare occasion and able to deal enough damage that 5 or 6 badguys isn't really a problem if I don't do anything decidedly stupid.

i have thought about that alot...up until this level a lot of my skills were smiting prayers... but that has seemed to change...
i thin as i get closer to twenty i will not use them pretty much at all in exchange for better warrior and healing skills....
i'm thinking in a level or two i'll respend.. but right now i'm doing pretty nice
thanx for the thought though... thats defintaly what i'm gonna do...
