Default Why are traps so weak?

Topic.

Seriously.. I got all traps now flame trap, spike trap , barbed trap, dust trap. And healing spring... which isnt really a trap.

I tried a trapper in pvp, just for kicks and giggles, casting traps while at the countdown, before the game even started. Now ofcourse.... even though I asked my team to be defensive and stay around my traps they didnt. But lets say they did, with quickening zephyr or serpents quickness on they had a blazing cooldown so that wasnt a problem anymore. I casted about 8 traps (ignoring dust trap as it's simply too expensive to be worth casting). And a group of opponents walks exactly through those traps. Hardly even noticable. Should have been around 400 damage but it was a lot less.. for some reason. That area of effects was only minimal which might have caused it. Compare it to for instance an elementalist who does a lot more in an AOE and doesnt require anyone to walk in it.

And while casting you have to be hit once and it fails..sure you have whirling defense but still..

hmmm, I've partied in PvP with alot of trapper rangers and we tend to dominate. It's all an issue of your tanks moving up and holding down the opposition in your traps

I find trap more useful if you set them while 2 warriors are doing a stand off on each other's face... or have a decoy monk of some kind sitting in the middle not moving.

while everything you two said is true.

-you're easily interrupted when setting traps
-traps have a high manacost
-you need to get your enemy to walk in it
-the damage isnt all that high to start with

Compared to elem AOE spellstraps are in all ways a inferior, if it did more damage to compensate for all the downsides it could work.... but it doesnt have that.

well, there are pro and con...

if ranger can do healing/aoe/range/melee just as good as other class, we may as well all be ranger.

Ranger are the jack of all trade... they are bad at none and good at none... aside arrows... they are really good with arrows lol
