Default It's official: Word of Healing is now impossible to capture.

I've been doing Elona's and Thirsty River most of the day, and I'm now convinced that you can't get Word of Healing from either monk boss. I've been going through repeatedly with henchies, can always get to the monk boss, train the henchies on an Enchanted Bow or something else nearby and then I sit and watch the boss. He spams Aegis and Orison like there's no tomorrow, but never uses Word of Healing.

This has to be the biggest disappointment of the update.

Think the boss always used WoH when attack the priest (in Thursty River atleast). That is before the patch ofcourse.

I guess it was simply to powerful when you have the priest and the boss using it. Made the last fight so very difficult.

Get a Mesmer friend to come with you. Have him divert one attack after another until the boss is forced to use Word of Healing to keep himself alive.

The boss cannot self-cast word of healing. He must target other ally first.

Ah, that makes it only a little more complicated. Just keep an ally of his alive, and do the same. Eventually he'll get to Word of Healing.

I got Word of Healing last night. As soon as you attack the mob bring up the unique guy and watch what he uses (but don't target him, just bring him up at the top of the screen). Like a previous poster said, WOH cannot be used on the one who casts it. So the unique will use it to heal his allies. He will actually do so very frequently. Last night after SOC'ing it after the first time he used it, I saw him use it 4 more times before his allies died and he was under attack. Just be patient he will definately use it.

Even in the extremely unlikely case of Word of Healing being removed from every boss in the game, it's not 'official' until ArenaNet makes an announcement that it is. Using terms like that because you're frustrated will just spread disinformation and doesn't help anyone.

There's one problem with this. Diversion delays skills and not spells.

Wrong, it delays spells. I have had both skills and spells, if I am not mistaken, delayed by diversion. Unless I am mistaken, it will delay spells and signets.

Spells are skills but skills are not necessarily spells.

Got it yesterday in Elona. By the way, i didn't saw icon either, i just used Signet of Capture from time to time, and once it said "Capturing Word of Healing". But i was distracted by managing henchmans at that moment so maybe i just missed the moment when Word of Healing icon appeared.

I got it last night, but it was literally a last ditch attempt before he died and he used Word of Healing to try and save himself. A split second late and I'd have been out of luck

I keep seeeing references to the boss using WoH on itself, but this spell cannot be cast on oneself!! It's target OTHER ally.

Just to clear up any miss-information. It's a fantastic spell (which even as an El/Mo I don't hesitate to use), but part of balancing the fact that it's great is that it cannot be used on oneself.

The other Healing Prayers elite spell - Healing Hands - can be used on onself (but personally, I rarely bother with this skill).

This is a good place to clarify the classification of skills.
Every single skill you can put in your skillbar is a skill. Skill is the superset, and there are many subsets.

Superset: Skill
Subsets: Spells, Signets, Attack Skills, Stances, Shouts, Traps, Preparations, Pet Attacks, Nature Rituals, Gylphs. (Feel free to add others if I've forgotten one or two).

(Interesting note: The distinction between "skill" and "spell" is particularly important when considering mesmer interrupts. One of my favorite interrupts, Power Drain, can only be used against Spells. That means it's great for interrupting Elementalists or any spellcaster, really, but it's completely useless against an attack skill like Power Attack, or a signet like Heal Signet. However the wording is a bit tricky to decipher- at first you might think "Power Drain works against spells but not against skills", but you'd be wrong. Power Drain only works against 1 subset of skills- the spell subset.)

Within those there are a few more subsets, particuarly in the Spells category.
Spell Subsets: Spell, Enchantment Spell, Hex Spell.

All spells must have some target- Some target self only, some are other only, some are any ally. Others can only target enemies. Even a spell like heal area has a target- the caster. If you are a primary monk you'll notice you get the Divine Favor bonus when using Heal Area. I *think* it's the same thing with heal party.

Getting back to the original point: Diversion will lock out any skill on the enemy's skillbar, and as I hope I've clarified, spells are a type of skill. Just make sure not to use Diversion on Word of Healing!

Spell has two subsets as well: Enchantment Spell and Hex Spell.

Likewise the Attack Skills category has subsets (Axe, Hammer, Bow etc).

I captured Word of Healing on the first try in Elona's Reach on my monk with henchmen.
All you have to do is to target a normal monster to have all henchmen attack it. Then just change target to the boss without attacking. As soon as the monster reach lower than 50% the boss will use Word of Healing on it. All you gotta do is capture it.

If the boss (Wissper Inssani) wasn't one of the first 2 i seen, i would just restart the mission. I was lucky that on my first try he was the first forgotten boss i met.

I could have captured it when i first passed the mission with a real party. But i was so busy healing and getting monster off of me, that i realised we were killing him after he died and droped a forgotten seal lol.

For those of you who say you can still get word of healing, I guess you didn't see the title of this thread, "It's official: Word of Healing is now impossible to capture." If it's official it's official.

I was just at thirty river last night and the monk boss at the end was definitely using word of healing. If you try to cap it after killing all the othe mobs he won't use it since word of healing must be cast on a target OTHER ally. So keep at least one other mob alive and beat down that mob to get the boss to cast word of healing.
