me/w build. previously thought to have no hope.
I made this build because i wanted to be different and i was a noob.. I thought that being w secondary gives you more hp and being mes primary would be "unique" even though i had no clue as to what advantages they have.. So I leveled to 20, and I always thought I died easy because i had crappy armor, but now i realize that the best armor for mesmers is only 60 (as opposed to my 45) so I thought I totally screwed myself... I am at the ascension so its a bummer to make a new character.
anyways, I make my first pvp character im actually going to use and i notice a me/w build.. and It seems actually pretty good.. So I rebuilt my character to resemble those skills and came up with this :
powerspike - interrupt spells, caster takes 64 damage
leech signet- interrupt action, earn 8 energy if spell
counter blow-knock down attacking foe
energy drain- enemy loses 7 energy, then takes 56 damage
phantom pain- enemy suffers degen of 2 for ten seconds, then deepwound for 12 seconds
spirit shackles-for 16 seconds, enemy loses 5 energy for each attack
ether feast- enemy loses 5 energy and i gain 48 health
res signet
I wont bother telling you the energy of each skill because i never run out.
What I do is let the warrior lead, then I follow his target.. I stay back so I can cast energry drain and spirit shackles, then I wait for everyone to get focused on the warrior (or they get in a panic and attack different target) then i move in(hopefully dont get attacked because of my lack of hp and armor), and counter blow to keep the enemy from doing damage, phantom pain while hes down, then interrupt for the rest of the battle..
Its kinda weird, but Ive done pretty good with this build in the arena (streak of luck, i dunno) and MUCH better than my previous builds built more arround strict nukes and hammer moves.
So , what do you guys think? move on or is this a savable character?

I really believe that no class is overpowered, nor is any class underpowered. Me/Ws in fact aren't that unique, especially those that take advantage of Illusionary Weaponry, an attack that bypasses armor. Besides, you can play a pure mesmer by not putting points into W attributes and not equipping W skills. There isn't a combination that isn't worth playing. Just experiment

I've done WAY better as Me/W than anything else. I use domination, illusion, tactics -Illusionary weapon,Flurry, empathy, backfire, blackout, imagined burden, healing sig, sheild stance. I go straight for casters ussally, backfire when it ends blackout. If they run burden. For warriors sheild stance, healing sig, empathy, blackout - I've beat w/mo 1v1 before. I always try to keep Illusionary weapon up and flurry whenever I can,I get more damage off IW than warrior test builds I've tried. It's biggest flaw getting disenchanted. For armor get Rogue's set,it has the worst energy but 60 + 10vs physical damage, for runes I use superior vigor/superior illusion, minor dom, minor cast.
This is my favorite build by far

I think vs physical damage is overrated nowadays. There are too many people running around with elemental mods on their weapons.
