no i didnt start this from scratch as i didnt have time to over one weekend.
i simply used my only pve character i had last weekend and bought many many different skills from the skill trainers thruout the lands of GW's
i tested about 15 total skills.
shield of judgement wasnt even in my original list, even tho later on i found this to be the best in my 8 skill lineup.
i just want to let all of you know, this works best when you go solo so that you maintain your energy (if they arnt attacking you, your energy bar will be low after a few spams). also, this works very well on the undead and the char since fire damage is very deadly to them.
the hellhound in riverside were taking 160+ dmg hits from zealots fire aswell from shield of judgement.
but stay clear of the enchant removers because remember, 7 of your 8 skills are enchants.

TO: Superj24:
I just have a question about this war/monk build.
does that mean you can replace your sword/shield combo with a
+energy 1hand/shield set. or did u keep the sword just incase of a hack'n'slash emergency.
or it wont really matter since balthazar will be enuff for energy.

My mod of Suidice Monk w/ Mo/Me
Class: Monk / Mesmer
Attributes:
Divine Favor: 8
Protection: 9
Smiting: 12 + 2
Inspiration: 5
Skills:
[Damage]
1) Zealots Fire
2) Shield of Judgement {E}
3) Orison of Healing
4) Reversal of Fortune [also primary damage when paired with Zealot's fire]
[HP Concerns: (include DF bonus)]
5) Shielding Hands
[Armor]
6) Physical Resistance
[Mana regen]
7) Channeling
8) Balthazar's Spirit
Other skills to try in rotation: Sympathetic Visage (kills their ability to use skills on you, making shielding hands more effective), Divine Boon (additional healing on cast, essentially healing support from damage dealing from Reversal of Fortune), Blessed Aura (longer enchantments), Watchful Spirit (additional healing needed), Retribution (depending on damage, possibly sub out Channeling or Bal's Spirit), Inspired Hex (5en 1 second casting time w/ no recharge, this could be the primary damage dealer if it triggers Zealot, though of course it wouldn't provide healing), Mend Condition/Ailment (3/4 cast, 5 en spell that gives DF healing)
Note: It may be overkill to have both channeling and Balthazar's Spirit. I've not tried this out yet. The less effective would go the way of the dodo if mana isn't an issue (keep in mind that a monk primary will have double the base mana regen of a warrior).
This build differs from the Suicide Monk in a couple of respects:
* More base mana regen. The shorter the fights last, the less of a concern this is, especially with Channeling/Bal's Spirit
* Divine Favor - actual healing for each damage dealing stroke with RoF (chosen because it's the least mana intensive, quickest recast spell you can cast on yourself from the monk lines - plus it's damage negation component helps a bit too)
* Armor Factor. W/ Physical Resistance adding +40 to the AF for about a minute, this brings the monk to 100AF in base armor, 105 in Silk, and 110 vs physical in Judge's (without additional items like Censor's Icon, which will both increase mana and AF on this build). This compares to 120AL that the Warrior has base w/ Platemail and "Watch Yourself!".
Technique is as follows:
Maintain - Balthazar's Spirit, Retribution
Prep: Physical Resistance, Zealot's Fire
<Rush in>
Cast: Shield of Judgement, Shielding Hands, Channeling
Spam: Reversal of Fortune and/if Orison of Healing (both provide damage handling and damage dealing under Zealot's Fire)

just a warning for a lot of these builds - Wind Riders and other gits who use such wonderful spells such as shatter enchantment/remove enchantment/inspired enchantment RAPE these builds. they hurt. Lots. however, they do indeed rock as much as SuperJ says. nice one.

He's right
But I think this is all about farming Ricverside White Mantles, or any other large numbers of physical damage dealers.
I wouldn't be running around with these guys trying to farm the undead in riverside.

Sorry if I'm digging up an old thread, but I have a similar build and cannot seem to find any effective way to deal with the Zealots. What exactly are you doing for those?

I have tried this build, and it works very well. You cant really do much against any class that casts, you need to run from those and try to split all the melee types.
But against pure melee mobs, nothing is better than the suicide build, it totally decimates them. The more hitting you, to faster they die as all your skills recharge alot faster, and with bal spirit going, you never run out of energy, its pretty cool watching 10 or so mantle die at a time and all the loot flies all over the place

How would this build be for tanking in PvE, I currently have a lvl 8 N/W and it's fun but im lookinf to make another character to act as a tank for when we do big missions.

There's another solo build that I have, it's Elem/Mesmer
Fire (15, 12+3)
Water 11 (9+2)
Energy Storage 10 (9+1)
Fireball (112dmg AoE)
Fire Attunement
Meteor shower (112dmg x 5 + knockdown)
Phoenix (112+85dmg both AoE)
Fire Storm (20+dmg for 10 sec AoE)
Armor of Mist (speed +Armor)
Mist Form (16sec immune to physical)
Arcane Echo (for double casting meteor shower )
Cast Fire Attunement, pull the mobs together, cast Mist Form, Arcane Echo, Meteor shower, Meteor shower again, if they're not dead by this point, Fire Storm, Phoenix, and Fireball. I haven't seen anything survive this.

hehe, Ive also tried out this build... it takes a little while to get the hang of it, its a very powerful build, but in the hands of a player who cant utilise it, its crap.. maybe this is the case w all builds...
anyways, I had the same problem you are having, the zealot.. I always run into exactly *one* of those guys when soloing riverside... thing is, how I managed to take im' down, herd a big group of regular justiciars (say 8-9?) and start doing your thing, the zealot will start healing but with so many guys hitting you your skills will be spammed extremely fast (I use a spell that causes all other spells to heal me +10 just by casting also) a great spell to spam is reversal of fortune since its so fast... the last man standing when the group is dead, is ofcourse the zealot, but his hp will be so low that he for some reason wont bother with healing signet anymore, he tries to inflict the most dmg on you before hes gone.. so keep up that zealots fire and burn him down.... this was not a one time thing, after I did this once I've basicly done it on every run after....
good luck /Lantern

I have a Mo/W built upon a similar principle (but healing hands instead of balthazar, balanced stance, sprint, etc). The coolest thing about using a Mo/W build is that it can be extremely flexible. The only permanent part about the build is the attributes. Suppose you have 10-10-10 in the 3 monk attributes and no other points invested in tactics or otherwise. For PvE solo you can farm the crap out of the zealots using the standard combo. However, for PvP or for PvE teamplay all you have to do is switch around a few skills towards supportiveness rather than soloing! Healing, Protection, and Smiting never go out of fashion and there is plenty of mana to support any selection of skills from these groups as a monk! With a warrior primary the build just doesn't seem quite as flexible, as a warrior never makes a logical backup healer and with a team (rather than solo) you won't be able to get enough aggro to make this combo shine.
Although, if all you want is a hardcore solo grinder, then I guess maybe versatility isn't a concern!

You could also get gladiator armour, get yourself balthazars aura, and symbol of wrath coupled with shield of judgement and of course have balthazars aura going and they die alot quicker.

Consider using distraction to deal with healing signet.
