Ranger tanks in high end areas.
Hey guys, I know rangers can be used to do t1/t2/t4 in UWSC Tway and that there's a R/A build for DoA tanking as well. I've been trying out T1 in FoWSC with a ranger, but I'd like some tips (or a working build that was already tested).
Burning forest wroks great, it's really fast things go poof.
Tower of strenght is really easy with the constant 75% blocking and you can take out like all enemies at once.
The real problem is the battlefield :
Those damn beserkers always remove your whirling defense! I've tried bringing some blinding skills ( unseen fury & throw dirt) but its still extremely slow, as they will often hit you with wild blow and make you wait for like 50 seconds to use the skill again.
Killing the needed 2-3 monks on the battlefield is also kinda hard-ish.
My build was :
[FoW ranger T1;OgcTcZ/8Z6ASnB14uU4ImkzD3BA] (copy paste on gw to see)
AKA : Shroud of Distress, Shadow Form, Throw Dirt, Whirling Defense, Finish Him!, Shadow Sanctuary, Deaths Charge.
FoW is the area I know the most SC wise, if I am posting this here, it's only because I don't think it goes well in the builds section of guru. ^^

Ranger T1 hybrid for fow is not meant to do battlefield.
It is meant to do Burning Forest-ToS-Khobay. Take out throw dirt for something like mental block and take out SS for dash or FN.
Also there is almost no point in bringing a R/A tank, at least in LOD's pov, for doa in a regular run.

r/a tanks in casual doa are more of a novelty than anything actually useful and yeah in fow its really better to swap roles with the a/e terra rather than trying to do battlefield. the normal split which most people run is :
r/a - Takes hunt quest, runs back and does burning forest, clears ToS, does khobay
a/e - clears camp and does menzies quest, kills battlefield wolf, go to forge and help the team, kill the cave wolf, seeds and beach wolf, send mage, kill lord
with fast quests this means terras can be done in 13-14 minutes.

Well nvm that I might just go and play around with my ranger in FoW once I get the time haha.

Probably not worth bring ranger tank for just for 1 spike, that whatever you bring can probably kill ^ ^

Rangers are fun in DoA, but it's really useless imo. Sure it'd be fun to bring mop and blow stuff up in foundry, but I don't think it could be better than a sin. With a sin, you can go sliver tank and speed up veil, or A/N and pop the trenches and solo parts of Gloom.
tl;dr: a sin would be more effective. Just my $0.02

Except that the fastest way to do 8man 4man and 2man DoA uses Ranger tank.
Ranger is beast, but in normal runs it sucks because you need lunar fortunes and thus it's not good for farming money.
Ranger MT is good as well if you are doing more complicated splits. Battlefield is possible as ranger using throw dirt. I think it is harder than using a sin though.

He asked about the effectiveness of the ranger. Ranger is extremely strong, "records" or not, and the ONLY reason it isn't used in casual DoA is because of the cost of the candy required to use it effectively. Just stating that they are bad is extremely mis-leading.

Only reason you'd bring Ranger is for gloom duo. It doesn't speed up anything anywhere else.
Ranger MT's for FoW are pointless also. Killing melee on top of forge is annoying, you have to arrange the rangers so that all of them can hit you + all the melee is being wall glitched. By the time you get this setup your team would be ready to spike.

They do a little more than that. I dont know the exact odds but when you double click a lunar you will either get one party item (Popper, sparkler), 100g, a mini pet, or an attribute bonus. There are also a few bonuses that do nothing that just make your character say a few strang things but generally you get useless bonuses. I think the chance of getting a +1 bonus is like 10 %.
Chance of getting a pet is like .5%. so in total, the chance of getting something good is 10.5 %
i thought i had to clarify that since saying they always give an atribute bonus is a little vague :/

I did not say fortunes "always" give attribute bonus, and a record ranger tank won't really care about sparklers and poppers.

I wasnt answering what a record ranger cares about. Someone asked what lunars do and you gave a vague response, I was merely just answering the question completely for them.
