Use of Henchies affects drops!??
Yesterday, while I was about to enter Skyward Reach...someone told me that the use of henchies in a farming effort would reduce the drops by 40%. Is that true?
Further, I seem to have more and more difficulty finding friendly, MATURE players that are willing to help in a quest or go on a farming run. Perhaps it's the location I'm at, but lately....I seem to be finding more immature players that are quick to call people "noobs". What happened to the days of people wanting to explore the region? What happened to doing farming runs, not only for the drops, but to make new friends in the process?
It seems the game today is more bent on people making or scamming money from players than it is about teamwork and having fun.
That's why I wanted to use henchies for exploration / farming efforts....but if my drops are affected by this, what am I to do?
Sorry for the ramble....it just disappoints me that the game has become a merchant-driven game than what it's initial purpose was....a new, fun RPG.

Yes they steal you're drops. And heroes steal you're drops too. Thats why never EVER give them a equiptable green item, son.
And Why do you choose Mature old people? You dont like funny, ignorant, energitic, immature people? If you dont like it then you got to love the ability to Ignore people on you're friends list, boi.

Your drops are affected by henchies in the same way they are affected by any other human party members. In a party of 8 you get 1/8 of the drops. In a party of 4 you get 1/4 of the drops. Since usually you can kill stuff faster with a larger party it all works out in the end.

there is a rumor going that every player gives +0.5 more drops starting at 1 at 1 player
so
one ppl in team=100%
2 ppl=150%
3 ppl=200%
4 ppl=250%
8 ppl=450%
however if you go solo you will get 100% drops
if you go 8 hench you will get 450/8 drops=~55
i think it works this way if they are off rader, but they WILL steal gold annyway

The hero/henches will even stand around and not rez you until your gold item drop becomes anonymous so they can pick it up for themselves. Not only that but I tried forming heroway in HA a bunch of times but the hero/henches always kicked me so it would be an all hero team.

Hi.....well xcutioner, dont use that sarcasm on him! I would like to agree with wlucas44 regarding the pug's ; if a mission/quest/run is doable with hench or heroes then I prefer that instead of a pug like wlucas described. And nowadays its hard finding a nice, teamacting pug.Of course .....depends on where ur playing/farming,what mission and so on.I have done loads of missions etc with hench/heroes.Been playing for 2 years now, have Prophecies,Factions and Nightfall.Played almost all proffessions at lvl 20.

I don't think that's right, it means you got a chance of .55 of getting a drop and that doesn't happen to me nor my friends.

You can stop reading right there...
Go ahead and take heroes/henchies, just remember that they take their fair share of loot just as any other team mate would. They neither increase nor decrease drops, they just take what drops for them. From that point of view then they do decrease drops.
As for teaming up, that's what guilds are for. You show a tag in your profile, is that just for show?

Quoted for Idiocy. Equiped items have in no way any effect on drops.
Henches do steal drops, they act as normal party members, as explained earlier.

I think he was joking, saying that heros are greedy little bastards and since they steal your drops in an instanced area, they might run off with your green item as well.

Well If your planning on farming Green Items just get a build where you can wipe the boss by yourself, take henchs/heroes and kill the all the boss mob EXCEPT the boss. Then send your npc's away until they're names on the party bar become gray. Now the boss drops are all for you (you can confirm this by the experience it gives when you kill it).
As for the normal drops...npc's affect yout drops as much as human's do, simply you just don't see what drops for npc's so it looks less for you.

If you need help, but can't solo an area, alot of rez shrines in factions have monks that are fairly good healers. some builds focus around these. and these allies wont take any drops.

If I go with hero/hench I almost never have a golden drop.
If I go in a party of 8 humans they do drop.
After 4300h of playing, don't tell me it's bad luck!!

Henches take drops, but you dont get to see what is dropped... 1/8 drops is for you when you go with a party of 8. In case of players you see the drops, with henches you only see your own.

Thanks for the great discussion everyone. I ignored one post (Chick Boy), as I've noticed he doesn't provide much valuable insight on this forum.
I'll speak with some of my guild members to see if they're interested in doing some farming with me. If not, I'll take 2 healer henchies (and maybe another henchie) to do some farming with. I don't have much success with other players these days, as they tend to leave in the middle of a run, or are just ignorant/rude.
Again, I appreciate the insight everyone. Take care and happy hunting!

You're really better off either going solo or going with a full team as described above and sending them away before killing the boss. There are a lot of bosses that you can solo, depending on what you're playing and where you are at so just use some of the existing builds from here or guildwiki.

it is as simple as this party of 8 ppl mean every one have a chance of 1/8=12.5% to get the drop and it is random drop it not mean if every one will get 1 drop every 8 drop because it is random so if u do some good math the real % will be like 1.6% chance
but this not mean u wont get any drop at all but u can tell from expert ppl some time u go with team and u dont get any drop at all exept gold share
