I think I'll be interested in giving this a try if I ever find the time to (rather sad to do Ooze Pit again so soon after the ZB ... lol).
Some suggestions:
1. You can force no consumables by requiring a screenshot in which you're dealing damage. Also consumables last 30 minutes, so if the area in question shouldn't take that long then no problem. Can't do anything about DP removers, Candy, etc though unless you literally have to take screenshots everywhere.
2. I think it's fair to require screenshots including all hero builds (and your own), because otherwise I can imagine the following gameplan: bring a running build, kill all H/H, run all the way to Gloop or whoever, trigger the closest res shrine, die, res with all H/H next to you and finish boss off. I'd rather kill my way to the bounty the standard way; if this kind of tactic is allowed then I don't think I'll participate.
3. One thing I dislike about Ooze Pit is the rolling boulders (ewwwwwww). Another is that it's not really that hard, so less-than-ideal builds can make it. Finally I'm not all that familiar with the layout of the dungeon and what the fastest way to progress is. I'd rather an area like Forge HM (especially since I don't have to redo the dungeon unless someone beats 47 minutes ), but I don't mind Ooze Pit.
I might have to rework my builds to fit in "Fall Back!" and (even better) "Incoming!" somewhere for optimal speed.

I don't agree with the boulders part(makes no difference in this dungeon), however, i do agree with the less than ideal builds thing. This dungeon is heavily biased towards builds that explode shit with aoe damage. Every mob in the dungeon is a perfectly stacked ball, allowing builds like mine to exploit the hell out of it. It does, however, shit all over pure spiritways with spiritual pain. Took some interesting pulls at certain points to avoid the aoe rape. Layout is very simple. I just followed the map on wiki during the run and i did fine.

problem with ooze pit is, like life says, gimmicky builds will prevail. there's just clumps of casters you can jump into and nuke down =/
I'd prefer to see people do elite areas with 2 people 6 heroes or 3 people 9 heroes for deep/urgoz

The problem with that idea is that it goes against what thr OP is trying to do. He's trying to find the most efficient hero bars or something, and having 2 sets of heroes doesn't accomplish much.
I'd say something in slavers, but jeydra being lazy is lame.

17 minutes to boss room is very fast, I don't think I can beat that time with the build I ran.
@Life Bringing - I also lost a couple of minutes walking around looking for an Unstable Gelatinous Material to open doors, not to mention sometimes boulders showed up that surprised me and killed some of my party. See why I'd rather not this area?
|
Did you go through the ancient ooze or around? I would imagine you mightve lost some time there, because i never needed the Unstable Gelatinous Material. I also got a lucky spawn at the Ancient ooze, allowing me to pull all three mobs and kill them as one. My build wasted a ton of time at the boss though, because it was designed to get to the boss quickly by abusing the setup of the oozes.
Would be fun to try something else, rewards don't even matter. The contest itself actually gives me an incentive to do all these areas that i'd never usually bother with. Any other difficult areas that you don't already have screens of jeydra?

It's not up to me, heh.
Ooze pit is fine for a first trial. I've been playing Dragon Age lately, so I'm less enthused about this than I originally was. My hope was that this would be an ongoing thing that didn't need anyone in particular's input.
But if you need my "approval", then let's start with Ooze pit. Assuming we get a minimum of 10 submissions, I'll honor the prize offered of 1 candy corn stack. You guys have until next week thursday 10 PM hawaii standard time.
I'm hoping next time, someone else will "host" the contest and decide on the location.
PS: you don't have to post your screenshot. If you got an amazing time and don't want to discourage others, you can PM me.

Actually, let's push the deadline back until a week after canthan new year is over, since most people will be farming their behinds off. I'll post this in the contest section on monday so we can hopefully get more people involved

Told you I don't know the best layout by the way
And I don't know about another area, pick an area that's very difficult and most people wouldn't be able to do it, so ... I suppose it's up to traversc to decide.

Ah, I used the map from the official wiki, which had the entire dungeon mapped. I basically approached that second pressure pad from the south, going through a triple group of ooze with a boss, the ancient ooze. Maybe rragars or kath, but idk how difficult those are.

Oldé thread I know but the idea seems fun.
Three wipes because I tried too hard (megafail I know).
You can see the Prismatic Ooze die where it says I gain 750 dorf rep (@19 minutes).
Are you guys still up for this? We can compete in Slavers. One-level zones and it takes 20-30 minutes to reach Thommis and +20 to get to Rand from Thommis, for example.
Also inb4LTRbash
Edit: Just for you Jeydra! (http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/5026/forge31.jpg)
hur hur
4L-Cs still drop but I did not use them. Believe what you want.
Heroes decided to run in the opposite direction after I canceled their flag (If you play a lot with heroes you know of this feature).
Entering forge w/ inv open (no cons): http://img372.imageshack.us/img372/4...eringforge.jpg

So are people still just experimenting or is there now an actual challenge. Since no one can decide what to do, and since different professions shine at different things, I suggest doing (HM ofc):
1x Dungeon
1x Mission
1x VQ
The VQ came under some scrutiny before since it depends on quests / pop-ups etc. So I suggest finding a mid-size area (250~300 foes) That varies very little with min/max foes. For example, Dalada Uplands which has 283 - 306 foes. That's only ~20 difference and there are no unavoidable pop-ups. Also if people are still unsatisfied in the difference of foes you can make some formula to normalise the time i.e: Normalised time = (Foes killed/300) * Actual time.
Pick a mission that people tend to find difficult (EG or GoM for example, although GoM can be done with SoS and Discord...).
Dungeon is self explanatory.
Then add the 3 times together, I think this might make things more interesting.
3 Dungeon Levels ~ 40 mins
1 VQ ~ 40 mins
1 Missions ~ 15 mins
Then add these. This would make a more exciting challenge I think, and would allow all character classes a better chance.

I vote for Dzagonur Bastion instead of (one of) those two.
