Need help with my build and hero builds :\
Im a necro, i just dont know what to use for Vanquishes, SS can only do so much, MM's deal great damage but take too long. I haven't tried a pet necro but i dont see how effective that can be, also never have run discord on myself.
I tried a random build i made that utilizes necro touch skills with Dark Aura and demonic flesh, masochism, dark bond and a flesh golem to soak up the damage. Team was able to clear thing much quicker, but its still risky for me.
I just dont know how to ball the mobs up.
As for heroes, ive tried a bunch of things, discordway (briefly), ive tried using 2 rangers with me using MoP and calling targets, but mobs dont bunch up :| Mesmers dont seem to do enough damage too. Using meta builds.
Just want my life to be a bit easier as I still have to do some more HM eotn dungeons, then all over again in NM, and nearly all the vanquishes, and missions too.
Was toying around with a shockwave ele with shadowstep and tanking skills and mobs balled up a bit more...maybe 2x icy veins healers and some shadowstepping eles? I also use a ST rit and dont seem to do very well without it....my team is just too damn defensive and damage is suffering. Maybe an ele with that elite water ward to shadow step in with me?
help?

Personally I haven't used this but a friend of mine uses it all the time for everything so it must be pretty good.

It's harder to ball as a ranged char but it's possible, it just helps if you use spirit walls and a longbow. Pull the melee's into the spirit wall.
Always abuse the balling power of corners.

most of what ill be doing will be in the open areas, the problem with all these wiki builds is that they rely too heavily on adjacent damage :\

Even if they're not adjacent to eachother you can use AP/Evas with Barbs to pew pew things down. Not to mention you still have 2 dervs pew pew'ing.

Thats my biggest beef with Pvx type builds too much reliance on balling and killing.
I usually start with a Wiki build and modify it (if possible) too my own playing style. Try adding in some "snares" too your builds if you are having trouble killing with AOE damage.
I find deep freeze + some cripple skills do wonders for AOE effectiveness.
not to mention crowd control and damage prevention.
My main point is make the build work for your style of play.
Some builds just won't if you wan't too rush through a level without pulling and using tactics.

For Vanquishes, almost any build will work fine. I typically used to use SS with some support. Just had to be picky about what I targetted vs what target I "called" for my heroes to pummel. But with the new update to HM enemy AR rating, I could see IcyVeins being fun and possibly effective.

One of the easiest ways to ball enemies as a caster is simply to pull with a longbow. As you approach a group just flag your heroes back a bit, run up and fire an arrow at the enemy. Try to pull them at an angle or around a corner. The end result should be that the casters ball together fairly well, while the melees charge forth to be intercepted by your minions.
It's not foolproof, but it's generally better than nothing.

I like to use this if I am playing a necro nowadays now that they have boosted the effectiveness of elemental damage:

all true. most people recommend a longbow but I actually use a flatbow because of the higher arc. at max distance, the airtime difference vs. the longbow is substantial and you can use that extra full second to be further back which thins the aggro line even more
