If you have it, you can get by with Volley and take another elite, like Broad Head Arrow, for dazing the mursaat, or if you can manage it glass arrows/punishing shot/burning arrow to spike when you need single target damage. Splinter only works on 4-5 of your arrows depending on if your hero has runes or not and the +10ish damage you lose on each arrow may be worth the elite slot.
Also, little trick, go warrior secondary, and take I Will Avenge You!. All the allies that spawn in this mission, their bodies never dissolve when they die, and each will fuel IWAY!. If you camp the stairs at the start, about 4-5 lion guards will 'leroy' right off the bat, giving you a IWAY buzz that lasts it's full recharge, and throughout the mission a lot of allies will bite the dust. Even with 0 strength. You get 25% IAS and 3 pips of regen for the duration of the fight, non-stripable. With Warrior secondar you can also use save yourselves if you have it.
Other then that, equalize your numbers, as said, MMs and SoS helps alot, a panic mes is great to aide nuking and shut down lots of guys. Instead of a traditional ele nuker I took in a Smiting/Divine hero, with RoJ and the 2 party wide DF heals, divine intervention, Judges Insight and smite hex and condition. Last slot was an N/Rt resto to push red bars with Spoil Victor as an elite. I put my extra protection stuff MM and gave the SoS rit a little extra resto.

I'd rather go with Rampage as One, for a guaranteed permanent, non-elite 25% IAS and 3 pips of regen...

Like said b4... you ranger rit splintered with EVAS EBSOH.
Heros: a sos rit, roj mm, roj healer, roj prot, mesmer. You can mess around a little in the beginning but keep heros flagged back and when the bosses start rolling in... set spirits by 1st set of stairs and flag all heros around corner. They will ball up and Splinterbarrage/ROJ will mow them down. Move spirits back to right past the stairs and repeat.

I had been stuck at Temple of Intolerable. I went through 2 times with various heroes and failed, then I brought these 5 and it wasn't that hard at all. I used the same 5 for BoLA and the team only died once; most of the time I had the team flagged at the first staircase nearest the entrance. The foes never got beyond the first staircase.
Hope this helps.

I can vouch for this build, just tried it a minute ago and it worked beautifully. No real thought needed, just go to the top on the first set of stairs and chill.

Takes a pve skill slot, plus a live pet that could get killed and black you out and otherwise doesn't contribute much to a fight, and has to be renewed every 20 seconds for about 7-8 energy after expertise, which you may not have(dam sycophants and their e-surge...).
In this instance IWAY will be guaranteed permanent(seriously, the allied bodies don't dissolve it will last way longer then it's recharge), non elite +25% ias with 3 pips, without wasting a slot on taking the liability that is the pet, or wasting a pve skill slot and be much, much cheaper to upkeep over the course of the fight. Outside this mission, I'd agree, but in BfLA, IWAY just kicks too much ass for any martial class to not at least seriously consider taking it.

Just wanted to express my appreciation for this team build and recommend it to others as well... THANK YOU!
I had relatively few problems with the entire WiK strand up until the Battle, at which point I was about ready to tear my hair out after trying nearly a dozen attempts with different (all-hero) team setups. I popped your templates onto my team (with me being a W/P) last night and completed it on the first try with them.
As an aside, I found that it works well on other quests that also have enemy waves coming after you, such as the "Defend Jalis" one. Quite a nice setup.

Not trying to sound snotty, but Discord builds are actually relatively awful most of the time. It is a very easy but inefficient solution. Anyway, let's get constructive.
This mission has a lot of foes and a lot of fleshy bodies. A minionbomber fares well in such areas. He should also pack Aegis and Prot spirit since there isn't really place for it anywhere else due to the fact that we only have six slots. Defensive ST rits aren't great with minionbombers and we cannot afford a slot for an E/Mo. (2/6)
You are playing a physical, thus splinter weapon is amazing considering we established that there would be a lot of foes. Your earlier problem was that you were overwhelmed, spirits and heals can take some pressure off. A defensive SoS rit with splinter weapon seems to be in order. (3/6)
In regards to healing, you mostly want party healing since the SoS rit has nice spot heals. UA monk fits the bill nicely. (4/6)
You will face dangerous casters as well as lots of clumped foes if you make a stand at the stairs. A domination and a illusion mesmer for shutdown and AoE damage would be reasonable. (6/6)
With that setup you will have both minions and spirits to take some pressure off, you will have plenty of AoE damage, at least three resses (UA+2 on the mesmers), strong shutdown, spot healing and AoE healing. You should be fine.

me as splinter barrage with PI and ebon support wards.
2 monk heroes with WoH and various heals / prots (prot spirit, shielding hands, spirit bond)
necro MM hero with Jagged Bones + Spirit Bond support
Ele hero with SH and other fire spams, no other AoE skills though.
Rit hero with SoS, splinter wep, DPS, Agony and a few monk prots to ease pressure off monk heroes (spirit bond, extinguish, etc.)
not a very good setup, but I eased NM without having to use cons / any DP removal, think the worst I had was 30% on me as I was AFK tanking the Jade Cloaks at the end ^_^

Sorry reviving an older thread but recently returned and I've been having difficulty with this mission and this is one of the few threads with 5h builds I found....
I wanted to try the builds suggested here but dont know how to use the references e.g. OAVDMIxmOqwORd4RY46BVVBA - where do I go to look these up?
Sorry, basic question but thought I'd pop it here since I may have specific questions later.....

Those are template codes the game uses to define builds and attributes. Decode them here.

You can also save them in your templates folder to load in game. Click the template link for more information.

Thanks MisterB!
Finally managed to get through - I have to say, the WiK missions are well designed...challenging but far from impossible. I went with CLs suggested builds above, but key for me was learning how to macro some of the skills (e.g. spirit placement) and playing aggressively rather than defensively. I still had to take a couple of more shots at the mission while I tried different tactics but my final run was almost anticlimactic.

So i've read tons of threads on Battle for Lion's Arch and I just can't complete it with Heroes. I've copied (slightly modified) Crystal Lake's build and I'm totally fine until the VERY LAST WAVE which just overwhelms me every single time.
I'm a Sin, but I'm running as Barrage Ranger with some spirits for blocking. The last wave is absolutely killer. I've wiped, used a Powerstone and rewiped until I lose. Burned cons, summons, everything. For the last wave, I position my team, just around the corner of the first bridge and line up spirits to take the first assault but still get overwhelmed.
This is the last wave from the Wiki:
Quote:
The final wave will include Ambrillus the Guardian, Talios the Resplendent, six Jade Cloaks, four Jade Armors, and four Jade Bows.

That's just brutal

hmm unless your doing in HM, NM shouldn't be any issue. I mean I beat it afk one time, wasn't planning to but got a phone call and 15ish min after the mission is done. What i bring like always for this mission was mm, mm, and mm, and 1 sos and SoGM. Flag 3 mm in a ~ 125-160 degree formation at the bottom of the first stair, and 2 rit on top of the stair. Set back and let them come to you. If your a caster you can bring AOE and stand on top of the hill next to the stair and bomb the hell out of them when your mm block form a meal shield.

I tried it a few more times and that last wave got me again. I finally hired someone for 5k to run me through it. I would have liked to do it on my own, but I just wanted to get those Oppressor points for my HoM.

Another necro bump.
I'm pretty casual with builds and I rarely do HM content. I don't do team builds, and while I can't roflstomp my way through some of the harder areas, I can usually get the job done with perseverance.
Usually.
Some areas still destroy me and this mission is one of them (the usual "everything's fine until the first perfected").
I tried a number of different team builds, but wasn't making any progress.
However, this one worked like a charm. It wasn't pretty towards the end, and I thought I was going to lose, but the team managed to stabilize and come back for the victory.
Thanks Crystal Lake!
If this was GW2 I'd mail you some gold
Also, for anyone curious what I brought to the table.. Mo/N..
Finish Him, Necrosis, Ray of Judgment, Bane Signet, Castigation Signet, Ebon Vanguard Sniper Support, Rebirth and Gift of Health.
