What is, in your opinion, the best profession for farming?
Ok guys, I need some advice. I've decided for myself to get into farming a bit, my guild members are farming all kinds of things and make lots of money while the maximum I ever had is about 10k.
Now, I had a level 20 monk, but I deleted her. I'm so sorry for that now, I could've been 55/600 farming...
Anyways, I want your opinion about what is the best farming profession.
Should I choose a VwK 330 ritualist, a 55 monk, 130hp dervish, Green farmer Assassin or what?
I'd also like something that doesn't cost a fortune to set up. I'm not that rich.

We'll, 330 rits seem to be able to farm in a large variety of places, so I'd go get a rit.

Um ... there isn't a 'best' farming profession. It depends totally on what you want to farm, whether you want a steady, dependable income, or one rare but very valuable item every 50 hours or so in average, and whether you want stuff that you can merch right away for a quick buck, or something that you must sell to other players to make it worth the effort.
Let's have an example: any lv20 character can trivially farm lv2 - lv8 gargoyles in Ascalon. They drop Singed Gargoyle Skulls, which can be traded for Spiked Eggnog during the Wintersday. You can drink the nogs yourself if you're going for the title, or sell them to somebody who does. Just by swatting low level monsters you can earn the equivalent of about 40k per hour, thus bypassing the loot scaling system which tries to cap your average solo farming income to around 10k per hour.

Imo, monk, hands down. As tmakinen said, there's no "best" profession for farming, but the monk can farm a whole bunch of stuff. I do monk farms all the time, and I know it's bragging, but at this point I suspect that I could 55/600 nearly anywhere in the game (with one exception being places with that anti-farmer stance. You know what I mean if you've ever done tombs. But even there there's alternate farming builds).

If "best" is like in "most fun" I'd go for the 330 rit, for sure.
...but I guess this is a money making-thing, right?

But ranger also used to work very well beyond the toucher farming allthough that is fun the barrage winnowing splinter Margonite build was fun. i can't remember if you can do in on HM though

Ele sure is a nice profession for farming with shadow form or as terra tank.
But making a farming char??? You have to play the whole game with it in order to get to the farming spots. Might as well play a profession you enjoy in normal game as well.
