Hi all,

Long-term GW player but have recently decided to play again after a long absence; I don't have EotN or Nightfall at the moment but they're on the way. Until then, I've gone back to solo farming trolls in the cave outside Droks to keep me entertained but all I ever seem to get dropped are Mountain Troll Tusks or white Raven Staffs. I have two questions.

1. Am I ever likely to get anything good dropping for me in Normal Mode?
2. I'm an E/Me using a standard Mist Form Echo/AoE build, will I actually be able to survive if I try to farm them in Hard Mode? And are the drops worth it?

I've done a search of the forums and nothing quite answers these questions, so any help I can get would be great.

Farming trolls is not worth it in my opinion

If ure a E/Me i would recommend farming glacial stones in the jaga mormine. (Hardmode)

Just type ele E/Me glacial solo into youtube and it will show ya how to do it.

Trolls are way outdated. They drop crap and take forever to kill if they scatter. HM is a bit tricky because you can't outrun anything if there's something on the way to the cave. iirc they have Healing Signet so you'd have to be really efficient to be able to pump out enough damage before they scatter and heal.

IMO, if you're not farming in HM, you're probably not getting much for your time, unless you're farming collectables or something.

Mmhmm, trolls got nerfed pretty badly what seems like years ago now (though probably not much more than 6 months), unfortunatly there's still a lot of outdated builds and stuff kicking around saying how awesome they are to farm.

Simply playing EotN and NF will earn you similar money just for playing them normally. EotN Dungeons with their reward chest and hidden chests are the most rewarding in my experience with the heavily overfarmed Cathedral of Flame easily pumping out 8k+ a run (Often more if you get lucky on some gems and rare items) - and more if you take paying "clients".

Yeah, I was hoping I might be able to get some decent game-time just from playing Prophecies; I don't play enough to really justify buying NF and EotN but it seems that I have to in order to actually get any decent stuff for myself! I haven't played properly for about 18 months and everything is totally different.

I remember being able to solo farm bits of the UW easily with my E/Me but now I just get rinsed by the first mobs I encounter. Nerfing is so gash.

Actually, you can choose between 500g from Trolls in 30 minutes or 2,5k + a lot of Glacial Stones in same time.

Choose your next farm wisely.

Actually I can't because I only have Prophecies and Factions at the moment, as mentioned above, but once EotN arrives I'll be sure to head straight over to this other place and get my groove on.

I said that to Pesi. And probably as Elementalist, you might as well finish campaign and do Normal/Hard Mode Destroyer Core farming. Where is it? Check stickies.

Farming UW with E/Me is easier than ever.

Troll farming died when HM and loot scaling were introduced.

Give it a wide berth and go for greener pastures like UW / FoW instead. HM Raptor Nestlings in EoTN can be profitable...many dyes (including blacks), lockpicks, gold weapons & perfect weapon mods drop on a regular basis.
