Ecto Drop
I think this may be somewhere hidden in the forums but i coudlnt find it. SO the question is, when farming monsters for ecto, do taking on groups individually drop more ectos than having you pull a whole mass of groups together?

Drop rate is determined when you walk into the instance, it makes no difference on how you kill them.

Umm i always thought if you kill a large amount in 1 go then only normal drops such as golds and purples will drop less per monster. But ectos are unaffected.

Matterials nor gold items are effected by mass kills.

Mass kill = Less drops (ecto and gold weapons unaffected).
By my reckoning.

Conspiring is bad.
Mass killing does not decrease drops. There was a thread somewhere here in the farming forum comparing the drops of a SV vs SS 55hp necro farming. Search for it. They were the same drops.

What should have been the /endthread was the link to lootscaling.
Pasting again for emphasis: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Loot_scaling
Everything else in this thread is purely based on experience and not what the official word of the mechanics of the drop system is.

Wiki is based on the word of the community. Anyone can edit it. Which means it's also based on user experience.

Only for the drops affected by loot scaling. It appears to me that golds and rare material drops stay the same whether I mass kill or not.

some guy a bit back proved that mass kill doesn't change it and killing one at a time does help

Which was proven wrong by someone on this forum (search for it, I'm too lazy to link it). He and his brother both entered the same instance (different PCs, solo, same connection) one of them went in as a 55 monk with SoJ, and another went SV 55 Necro, and they got the EXACT same drops.

"...are scaled to your party size and to the speed at which enemies are killed."
Now, the speed-part of the explaination is new to me.. never seen that before on the actual wiki..
..nor experienced any difference.

You do get less drops by killing faster. An example is to use a VwK warrior to kill mobs, then use a shadowform ele or sin.
The ele will kill all foes at the same time and will get less drops.
It seems to be a loot scalling bug as it doesn't affect drops exempt from loot scalling as already stated.
