Some Trick-or-Treat bag drop numbers
I was farming Trick-or-Treat bags from the Vaettir using the Shadow Bomber build. As we know, the north group of Vaettir is made of 36 enemies and the south group is made of 24. Because of this disparity, I began to wonder if it was more efficient to kill the south group, or to rezone and farm the north group exclusively. Having nothing better to do, I recorded the drops of 50 runs in which I killed both groups. I decided to post the results here on the chance that someone might find them interesting. Also, I know 50 runs isn't going to give the most exact numbers, but it is good enough to notice general trends.
Number of bags dropped over 50 runs: 361
Bags dropped by the north group: 226
Bags dropped by the south group: 135
Average number of bags per run: 7.22
Average number of bags dropped by the north group: 4.52
Average number of bags dropped by the south group: 2.7
Percentage of my total that dropped from the north group: 62.6%
Percentage of my total that dropped from the south group: 37.4%
Experienced Drop rate: 12.03%
North group dropped better by: 91 bags, 67.41% better than the south group
So this shows that the extra 12 enemies in the north group make a measurable difference in the quantity of Trick-or-Treat bag drops. This leads me to suggest that farming the north group of Vaettir exclusively is more efficient for the time you spend farming.
Any thoughts, comments, or poorly spelled flames?

Interesting idea, but I think you need to take into account how long it takes to complete a North only run Vs a full run. So you end up with a drops per hour & runs per hour.

this is glacial stones farming but instead of starting the run from the normal place, you start in sifhalla and get the guy that drops kegs ( something blackpowder) then you run to the place with all the glacial griffons and luring them all and start dropping kegs.
if you need me to show you id be happy to help you tomorrow

I actually noticed the exact same thing.
Farming solely the north group provides more ToT bags nearly every run, and it takes about a minute to a minute and a half less than farming the north and south groups. Farmed 23 stacks so far (yay for 1,150k in ~20 hours).

YW
So I just tested a North only run.
40minutes 110 ToTs 25 runs 27 golds 6 GlSt
Used Shadow of haste to teleport back to the doorway (1.5min runs inc zoning)

I agree, of course.
Here's some of my times. I measured the time from portal to portal, including time picking up drops.
Full run: ~2 minutes 20 seconds
North group only: ~1 minute 20 seconds
This got me thinking of a way to make it faster. The answer is to bring Shadow of Haste and Dwarven Stability. At the beginning of a run, use Glyph of Swiftness, Deadly Paradox, Shadow Form, Dwarven Stability, and Shadow of Haste. Aggro the north group. Recast SF when you need to without GoS or DP. Making it recharge faster is irrelevant now. Blow stuff up, get your drops, and use DP or Dark Escape to shadow step back to the portal.
My times with this method are usually around 1 minute 5 seconds.
Edit: Didn't see your second post there. Looks like we've got the same conclusion.

I use perma SF mesmer with CoP, Ether N and radiation field. I found place where they not scatter and i have max kurzick, sunspear and asura titles, so it quit fast.
And i noticed too: more drops from north group.

What skill(s) are you using for damages? Dagger? I did try using sliver armor, but in HM, that was still too slow.
Anyone have a faster build to take them down faster?
Thanks!

Did you even look at the picture at all? Let me clarify it for you.
You drop a powder keg.
You drop a powder keg.
You drop a powder keg.
You drop a powder keg.
You drop a powder keg.
You drop a powder keg.
You drop a powder keg.
You drop a powder keg.

Says it many many times in his pic. How did you miss that?

Yes Yes and Yes. Just in case you aren't sure. Yes!! You can run there, you can walk, you can crawl there. Whatever you like. As long as you have Perma SF you can do whatever else with your skill bar. If you are looking for efficiency then that's another question altogether but not having PvE skills isn't a deal breaker here. This run really is simple and can be done in multiple ways. If you don't believe go ahead and try it.

Yeah, all you really need is the 3 core perma skills: Glyph of Swiftness, Deadly Paradox, and Shadow Form.
Heart of Shadow comes in handy to shadow step randomly when body blocked, and a speed spell helps as well, but neither is really necessary. Other skills just speed up the times
I tend to kill all 60 as I'm also getting norn points (sliver armor jarnskeggi after vaettir aggro, for those interested). That being said, all 3 of the black dyes that have dropped for me while doing this have been from the 24 group. The group of 36 certainly does seem to have a higher than 150% chance of ToT and gold drops though

could someone also answer this for me? I've been farming the "north" group of 36 vaettir for some time now and haven't seen a southern group at all, even when going and waiting down there for 5 minutes just to check...

60 always spawn, the the 24 near the bottom tend to group near the corner
