If you learn to solo the Great D man in HM, you can charge 2K a run, x7 that's 14K per run if you do it when it's busy... Run takes 5 mins, so u do the maths...

55'ing is hardly a good way to make money nowadays compared to other ways like permasliver and 600/smite. but bergen all in all just doesnt net you that much money. you get a few golds here and there and emblems but not much else.

55 is still alive and being used in some places and bergen/gates of kryta are also farmed for materials.Considering you get dust/iron/bones from undead easily and those 3 are parts of consets you can work out it can pay quite good.
The thing to remember which is a no win/lose debate is loot scaling - as its stated loot is scaled to party size so solo farmers get less than a team would in terms of drops.
Please dont anyone take thread off topic with any debates on loot scaling as its been debated a lot on guru already - im just stating whats on wiki and has been mentioned on actual guildwars site when it was put into place.

The whole party loot scaling thing put a damper on solo farming. It's still doable and you make a profit, but it's no longer the most profitable solo build.
@OP: If you can, run Great Destroyer. Pretty easy run and mucho cash to make.

Like others have stated, Bergen is good for non-rare materials and decayed orr emblems. A stack of emblems can come in handy during certain festivals, so don't merch them.
However, Bergen is one of the beginner 55 areas, so if you're concerned about the payoff, consider trying something more challenging, like duo UW in NM. Nowadays, an ROJ smiter can do just as well if not better than an SS Nec in the duo farm. That means there are 2 roles you could play.
If ectos aren't your thing, and you want to step up your game, get the gear for a 600 monk. Then you have several places to farm in HM, like Cathedral of Flames or many other dungeons. In many ways, 600 is actually easier to run than a 55... there's a little more margin for error.
As for the Great Destroyer.. what they say is true, there is profit... However, competing with the several monks in Central Xfer for customers can be a drag sometimes.

I didn't say that 55's don't exist anymore but simply that it isn't as profitable as it used to be. This being the case i am suggesting to him to change to another way of farming, like 600/smite which is faster easier and you can do more things with.

@riktw - damn you saw thru my disguise now im gonna have to terminate you - pah calling my monk a bot ... grrrr lol.
G-D can pay off but also as said theres big competition and often the run itself can take quite a few runs if deeds spawn and you have to restart - i ran 2 guildies and i was cursed with bad spawn for 6 runs as damn deeds spawned behind G-D and showed up after i made an approach.
If you do run then explain to passengers about deeds so they understand the possible restarts

on the contrary, SS necro always beats RoJ monk in duo farm. SS is a lot faster in terms of killing and recharge time.
I regularly duo with my friend, and SS gets the chambers to smites run done in at least half the time than RoJ does.
