You're supposed to be able to kill them before they can do significant damage.
With the right attack sequence, you can kill them within 3 visages.
Visage -> Cyclone Axe -> Whirlwind Attack -> Triple Chop -> Whirlwind Attack -> Cyclone Axe -> Whirlwind Attack -> Repeat, starting with visage.
Or in number form, 4 - 2 - 3 - 1 - 3 - 2 - 3 - 5 - 2 - 3 - 1 - 3 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 2 - 3 - 1 - 3 - 2 - 3 .. smites should be dead

I use:
Triple Chop | Whirlwind Attack | Sympathetic Visage | Ancestor's Visage | Physical Resistances | Enrahing Charge | Bonetti's Defense | Lion's Comfort
I swapped out Cyclone Axe for Lion's Comfort, purely because I wanted some healing. Ofcourse it takes longer to kill them, but I'm alive. You could also buy an Armor of Salvation for each run, as you get +1 Health Regen, +10 Armor and -5 Damage Reduction, but then you are looking at spending huge amounts on money for it.
Another thing to remember is run backwards if you are gathering smites, this way they don't get damage bonus for hitting you from the back whilst you run.

I have been pretty successful with this build, but I was wondering, how many visages do you do (while sitting there letting the smites attack you) until you are sure they are out of energy? I usually do 2.

I tried it only once yestarday cause I didn't have much time. Killed Graspings, got to smites no problem and then I was like wtf. Tried to pull smites away from coldfires but they just wouldnt follow. Tried few times and they break aggro almost instantly. Eventually I died to coldfires... When I watched your video the smites were glued to you and wouldnt let go no matter what O.o
I'll try again today when I get back from work but It was weird.

You aren't using Enraging Charge to pull are you?
They won't follow you with that on.

longbow is your friend, also stay still for 1 second after agroing the smites, if their close theres more chance they'll stick

As long as you don't have any running skill active while taking aggro your aggro bubble should only have to touch them to have them stick to you.

I'm having a lot of trouble for some reason...I can't even get past the graspings, I always, always, always pull an aatxe that tears me apart.
Wondering how you pull that part, watched the video, but I can't see it that well. I can't seem to find a group of graspings not sitting on an aatxe group.

to pull only the graspings and not the cows, you should just have to use sprint or enrage charge. After a few seconds the aatxe should break off pursuit leaving you with just the graspings.
Note: in HM the aatxe won't break off since they will have the intrinsic speed boost from HM.

An easy way to pulling the graspings is too target Bento, use Enraging Charge, run forward and once you've aggroed them (and any Aataxe) press space bar to auto head back to Bento. This should break aggro with the Aataxe (but may also break aggro with oen of the grasping groups).
Alternatively just use the X-R method.

i was wondering if you could list each rune and insignia on each part of armor. That way i get it absolutly correct and stop wasting my precious plat on failed attempts (50k wasted on a stupid uw solo rt/w build and it didnt even work) <not including the armor.

This is what I have:
Knights <type> Helm of Major Axe Mastery
Knights <type> Cuirass of Superior Absorbption
Knights <type> Gauntlets of Minor Strength
Knights <type> Leggings of Superior Absorbption
Knights <type> Boots of Minor Tactics
The Superior Absorbption should be on the Cuirass and Leggings, because they have a higher chance of taking a hit.
