Just how would you say the title was "supposed" to be earned?
playing through the games missions and quests would be my first guess.
getting the survivor title is supposed to be a challenge.
killing the same group of monsters that pose no threat to you over and over again is is not a challenge, and a very lame way to get the survivor title.
I'll never understand this farming crapola

This is a FARMING thread in a FARMING forum....what's not to get?!? If there's an easy way to do something, someone will find a way and share it, thereby making it accessible to other players who choose not to go through 100 hours of mission grind to achieve the same goal.
Perhaps you should learn about the purpose and intent of FARMING before commenting. Perhaps you should also try farming the longer runs before mouthing off about the challenge. Tanking groups of 16-20 Jade Brotherhood with a mix of W/Me/Ele/Rt/Mo can be tough, i just happened to find an easy way to do it for all classes. You don't like it, don't do it...but at least try it before assuming it's a cakewalk.
Farming the Survivor title is the same rock/paper/scissors exercise you go through when taking on any enemy encounter be it PvE or PvP. While you're at it, why not blow up about FFF, the 55 or UW/FoW builds? Or why not criticise the team builds needed to conquer elite missions? Or the 2 MM setup for Vizunah Square, or the 2 SF setup for just about every other mission in the game? Or why not have a crack at the level designers for creating areas like the Troll Cave outside Drok's which is clearly designed as an XP farm? They're all lame...but they work well to fulfil a specific task, and that's all that should matter to a farmer.
Go back to Riverside cadet, whingers are more welcome there.

currently working on this title again, for my seventh time...
This time I bought maxarmor, took all maintaining enchantments and above that; I use troll Unguent (as a R/Mo)
All my previous attempts have failed due to lags, but this time I won't die as long as symbiosis is up.

Hmmm might give it a spin. One thing though: since spirit bond expires after receiving 10 hits, wouldn't it just immediately disappear after 10 hits as opposed to blinking on and off like an enchantment nearing its duration time? Would this not throw off your timing somehow?
Also, from wiki: "Bug! If Spirit Bond is renewed before it ends, the number of "charges" does not reset to 10." So I guess this means if you recast sb say after 8 hits, the new sb would last for only 2 hits and you'd have to recast?
The pre-nerf sb was much less complicated heh...

Does this run work with a paragon with max al, and a bonder with 16 protection life barrier on him? I was wondering if their might be too much reduction for spirit bond to trigger with that?

My GOD, I went to go and aggro all 6 of the nights, and then tried to get back into symbiosis range - and of course, LAG. Quickly closed down GW but alas, 1 freaking death.
Gah, whoever says this method is a cakewalk you're seriously mistaken. ><; I don't think I'll be trying for survivor for a while now.

Lol, the farming south of Marketplace became so easy (well, only the first 6 knights then), making me go beserk near Sunspear hall. Everything went well, until my dunk aggroed a freely walking beast. He got killed in 2secs, after which I was KO in about 1 sec (having 7 bugs slashing on you with no defense really does the trick). So there's 5 months of work gone, and my paragon is now stuck at 800k exp .
Btw, you may have to mention that the quest from Cantha to Kamadan isn't exactly without risk; my new mesmer was killed today after 4 hours of work. I was ready and set to go get my heroes when some elementist chaos-dude ran into me and unleashed an Doubledragon which instantly killed me.
Tommorrow i'll do take 3, but having this said; wouldn't hurt to include some warning there.
Still very curious about the effectivenes of the full farm.

As long as I've known about this thread, this has been on the first post:

From this point on, just do the main missions and you'll arrive safely at The Marketplace within 4 hours from character creation. Get a run to Kaineng Centre and complete Sunspears In Cantha to get to Kamadan, head to the Plains of Jarin to meet with Kormir and pick up your lvl 15 monk heroes. That's all we need to do in Nightfall. Complete Chaos in Kryta to head to Lion's Arch to pick up any required Prophecies skills. You'll be about lvl 13 and 5 hours old when ready to start the run.
Risky bits - - Bone Collector spikes during the Necromancer mission, Track Down Su.
- The Captured Son quest is best avoided.
- The Afflicted Senku assassin boss can spike you during the quest To Zen Daijun.
- The Afflicted Yijo ritualist boss can spike you during the mission Zen Daijun.
- Sunspears in Cantha quest is potentially very nasty. Have a lvl20 friend complete the quest for you while you avoid agro. Henchies are lvl 20 so you can do it without help. Watch out for Wrathful Storms - flag henchies away from Meteor Storm or take interrupts.
- Running from The Marketplace to Kaineng Centre can be problematic - advisable to get a runner.

Ok this is sadly my first post.
Anyway.
How do you get the 30sec scrolls to work.(not activate them) but use them so they do not run out before you kill the first one of the second group
I have tried setting it of during the first group but no luck I cant seem to get a hold of the second group soon enough.
I like the build its nice and simple does get boring after a while. my last attempt i was about 1 lvl worth of xp away from survivor 3.
So yes people it is faster. Expensive with scrolls but faster. Just make sure the mobs dont go after your monks and that your symbosis does not disapear for unkown reason.(thats killed me twice no idea why it disapeared I was in range and it was up probably one of the planters with tree blocking it some how)
ok done
thanks

This is a nice guide. I'll be using it for r2 and r3.
Note: You can do A Decayed Monument safely if you have Queen of The Quarry active. It gives you 3 NPC's that will fight whatever you fight. If you start from Beknur Harbor you have 4 henchies, 3 heroes, AND the 3 NPC's.

I finally got my paragon to lvl 20, tahlkora is lvl 17 and I plan to go get ogden from eye of the north for my other bonder.
I want to do this the safest way possible.
I am going to use full armor and shield of judgement along with prot spirit and spirit bond.
My question is, if I get a lvl 16 life barrier on me, the damage will be enough to trigger spirit bond right? Or should I just stop it at lvl 12?

I give major props to whoever actually farms legendary survivor this way.
To all those who say "it's cheating" well just see how much work you have to do to get it before you go rant.
I have been doing this run, gosh who knows how many times. I started it at about 160k, after a few hours for what maybe 2-3 days I am at around 510k experience.
I still got like 300-350 runs to go (because I am only buying another 13k worth of scrolls and not buying 200scrolls to get it in 200 runs).
It is really mind numbing, and i'm not even halfway there yet. Not to mention I had a blue screen of death (luckily at the end of the first 3 jade knights) so I still have 0 deaths.
So, congrats and good job to all those who earned it this way. Hopefully you'll soon see "Mercenary Guardian has achieved Legendary Survivor" in a few days.

Hmm, would this run work in Normal Mode? For example, for training a bit before taking on Hard Mode.

As others have said if you want to practice this run, use a different char (who has deaths) go with no armor or low starter armor and try it out in hard mode.
You'll get used to cast times, and if you want you can use dual bonders and add shield of judgement on yourself to pretty much make it foolproof. Just cast prot spirit, spirit bond and shield of judgement and you should survive with symbiosis up even if the jades die and you don't recast spirit bond.
Note, don't quote me on that and you should always try to get spirit bond up again as fast as you can =P.
